The exiled Prince of Hastinapur and the Warrior Princess of Manipur :

The dense forest of Manipur breathed with life, its vibrant, unfamiliar flora painting the landscape in deep emeralds and striking purples. Sunlight filtered through the thick canopy, casting shifting patterns of light and shadow across the clearing.

Princess Chitrangada stood tall, holding herself with the quiet, unyielding grace of a warrior born to rule. Her royal robes, adorned with intricate gold embroidery, caught the dappled sunlight, but her posture commanded far more attention than her attire. She watched the stranger closely. Even clad as a traveler, he could not mask the royal authority that shaped his frame. The intricate silver details of his armor hinted at a heritage far removed from the simple life of a wanderer.

A tense silence stretched between them, broken only by the distant, rhythmic calls of woodland birds.

Arjuna stepped forward. The Pandava prince, currently enduring his long and voluntary exile, offered a respectful greeting that carried the polished cadence of Hastinapur’s court.

"Greetings, Princess," Arjuna spoke, his voice steady yet humble. "I am but a traveler seeking passage through your beautiful lands, yet your presence commands the respect due to a sovereign."

Chitrangada acknowledged the gesture with a subtle, measured nod. Her sharp eyes immediately mapped the deep, unmistakable calluses on his right hand—marks left only by years of drawing a heavy bowstring.

"A mere traveler does not carry himself like a king, nor do ordinary wanderers bear the marks of the heavy bowstring upon their skin," she countered, her voice carrying a sharp edge of curiosity.

A slight smile broke through Arjuna’s serious demeanor, softening the regal lines of his face. "You have a keen eye, Lady Chitrangada," he replied. "In the lands of Bharata, men call me Arjuna, son of Pandu."

Chitrangada’s eyes flashed with instant recognition, but her stance remained proud and unshakeable. She did not bow, nor did she falter.

"The legendary archer of the North stands in my forest?" she asked, her gaze locking onto his. "Manipur welcomes your virtue, Prince Arjuna, but remember that here, it is our bows that guard the peace."

In that quiet exchange of glances, the initial tension dissolved into something deeper. An unspoken understanding passed between the legendary archer and the fierce princess. The path of his long exile had unexpectedly brought him to a companion whose spirit perfectly matched his own, standing as equals beneath the ancient trees.
