Well.. I guess I don't need to "fly" to say this to you.. 😆
Priya has achieved what no tamil industry actress could achieve in the last 19 years or so. That includes everyone in your favorite and not so favorite list.
There are very, very, very few roles in any tamil movie that offers that kind of a performance scope to an actress due to extreme commecialization. So such perfomance oriented roles for actresses are hard to come by. Priya happened to be there at the right time and the right place.
I have said enough about Priya's acting prowess. Having said that, quoting Dir.Ameer, she chose to play this character in this movie due to her lack of roles in the industry at that time - as Ameer very rightly put, in a tamil mag interview. When she was offered a role with a lot of scope in his upcoming movie, now that she is into mainstream glamor roles, she refused to do it!!
This shows the trend in tamil cinema. Like Asin, Nayantara, Shriya or any one else, the actresses will not get to act in movies that are not made by big banners. And such big banners are not into making movies such as Paruthi Veeran. And coming to the award, the national whatever jury has always had a step motherly attitude towards tamil cinema. All these are reasons, why we have fewer actresses clinching that award.
Now, mozhi was a good movie, although a bit commercialized.. but don't know if its success can be compared to that of LRMB. Yes.. based on performance (or lack of it) if Saif can win an award for his role in Hum Tum, Jyothika can win one for Mozhi too!
