Prasidh Krishna to Kamindu Mendis, out Caught by Shubman Gill!! The skipper has pulled off a stunner. India needed something, inspiration from someone or somewhere and Gill has produced that. This is a well-directed short ball, angles it across the left-hander, it is around shoulder high and Mendis decides to take it on. He did score a four and six the last time Prasidh went short to him, so the confidence was there, but he gets it high on the bat and the ball skies over square leg. Gill runs back, circles around a bit but keeps his eyes on the ball, dives and clings on with both hands. The partnership is broken. Will that open the gates for India? Sooriyabandara carried on from where he left off in the first innings, while Kamindu Mendis played the perfect role at the other end. The two batters combined caution with aggression, kept the scoreboard moving, added a 100-plus partnership and brought up their respective fifties. The runs came freely and, once the deficit dropped below 50, it started to show in India's body language - the shoulders were dropping and the chirping had stopped. It needed something special to break the partnership and Gill provided it with a terrific catch to dismiss Mendis. Since then, Sooriyabandara and DDS have played cautiously and ensured they don't lose any more wickets. The deficit is now just 14 runs and Sri Lanka still have 7 wickets in hand. Can they continue to build on this start? We'll find out in 20 mins..
