Unlike what people were expecting, Gautam and Karan's characterization haven't been swapped. Gautam is still the insecure and willing to do anything to get to the top person while Karan is still the family oriented and following the sanskaar of house child. Maharaj ji is working for him was the first proof of it. Obviously later we saw he chided Gautam for having Ba's haveli be made a hotel which serves non veg and alcohol. I know for many it might seem a small thing, but a lot of people have a feeling that home should be free of contamination of non veg and alcohol. It's not that they judge people who consume that, it's just they feel some broken when that happens. For some alcohol is taboo for some non veg is. I had a Rajasthani classmate who was surprised that there could be people who consume non veg and restrain from alcohol. It's about how you are raised and how your mentality is.

Karan is still the good son and zimmedari uthaane waala beta of family, that's why he looks after Garu(could also be because he is first cousin of Pari biologically) and Gautam the not bad but slightly self centred son who was rights but avoids responsibility.

Karan is only angry at Tulsi and that anger is hurting him more, the hatred he has for Tulsi is something only you could have for someone who deeply embedded into your soul. Gautam while shouting he is Tulsi's son, is only calling it out in words, not in actions.

Tulsi will be hurt more at it. Had Karan actually turned evil and been angry at him, it would have been easier for her.

Samaira changed to Salwar Kameez clad girl seems off to me, she was sanskaari despite being dressed in trendy clothes, now she seems like someone from a chawl in Ghatkopar, at least they should have given her good trendy suits not like this one. What about Vaishnavi?? Had MR happened or had Tulsi saved her?? Or is it that before Vaishnavi got to know about Parth's true colours had they got into a relationship? I am not sure hope it's not that she returns with a child.

Lastly I actually liked/found it funny when Karan starts playing bhajan to counter Gautam. Although it was slightly demeaning to use Bhajan for venting anger, but at least shows some glimpses of old 2003 Karan who knew how to get things done for himself without breaking boundaries.

Even as a villian Karan would be better character than Gautam as a hero..

@bold - this is the heart of the conflict. Yesterday Gautam even says that Karan loved Tulsi the most, and Karan obviously got furious about it. Karan still loves her but that love is now clouded with anger and hate that he feels for the person who shot and allegedly killed his child, something that he doesn’t understand the reasons for. Had he known the truth he would’ve been still as heartbroken and devastated by the loss but at least he would have his answers, he would understand that his son had already killed a person and was about to kill another. Parth being evil would kill something in Karan but this stupid sacrifice has kept the good son image alive in his head and he also feels like Parth was unjustly punished for something that he didn’t even deserve.

Gautam however has shown that blood doesn’t make someone a good or bad person, it’s who and what you’re underneath it all. Had he simply renovated the place and turned it into a hotel it wouldn’t have been so bad but it’s the idea of him allowing non-veg and also drinks into the same as well as freely consuming at least alcohol in SN that shows his personality. The song played yesterday ends with the words - Hai Parvarish Hi Badi - so technically if we believe Karan was raised by Tulsi per the canon of this season while Gautam wasn’t - that shows. Tulsi’s obviously hurt that Karan hates her now but she understands she kinda walked right into that one - not like this was gonna have any other outcome on him but she was also happy to see Karan being a responsible family member who looks after the kids in his family as well as the love and affection he still holds for Baa and Bapuji as well as their legacy which he believes Gautam is tainting. Gautam wants to project Karan’s taunts are a product of jealousy but he doesn’t want to acknowledge that Karan isn’t angry about Nakul succeeding but he’s simply disgusted by Gautam tainting their values and legacy.

I am sure there’s something about Garu that will be shocking or something. Something tells me that there was more going on there yesterday than what we got. Garu was 5/6 the last we saw her, now she’s gotta be at least 15/6 but how does Samaira look like she’s a couple of years older than her at most is what’s baffling. Samaira should be in her early to mid 20s now. Something tells me there might be a stupid encore of Kasak and Sneha here wherein Sneha is supposed to be older than Kasak by a decade for sure and yet they look like classmates. Urghh, we better not get a love triangle involving the two cousins because urghh.

Honestly the way Karan said bachho ko le aao, I thought were they gonna show he had more kids who are younger with Nandini? Did they adopt a kid or two? But alas…

Also I don’t think that the song Karan played can be classified as a Bhajan technically because it’s a movie song that simply speaks about god granting us strength. The lyrics don’t technically address a particular deity or use any names or even mantras but simply ask for strength from the divine and it’s a very secular song which talks about a supreme power without naming names. I think the song was chosen because it was either play something actually devotional like a real Bhajan, Aarti or something terribly sad and depressing or maybe some Qawwali - basically anything that’s not a foot tapping number that kills the buzz of a party.

I found it hilarious that Gautam thought he could outsmart Karan with the legal permit for the party from the police themselves as he perhaps anticipated this sorta thing but didn’t anticipate Karan would kill the vibe of the party with a song Very non-violent and very creative, got the job done too!

Also, you’re right - giving Maharaj Ji to Karan’s side was an indication of who holds the family’s legacy and values. Tulsi even heard how the cook was like, taking one vegetable from Maharaj Ji got him an earful. Wouldn’t surprise me if Gautam initiated the partition between the families… will be funny when he ends up realising he’s Pakistan in this case and not Karan

Crazy how Tulsi got grey hair but her kids got even younger looking in this decade! Sumeet looks like he lost a couple of years just by shaving his beard off and they even gave a nice makeover to Nandini. I think she looks better in Indian than western clothes tbh. Maybe that’s why Samaira has also had a makeover, she’s simply following her mom’s footsteps. Nandini has perhaps adapted to Indian wear again too and has ditched her westerns, it maybe her coping mechanism because even the simple wardrobe reminded her of the day she shot Parth. So she has completely switched to Indian wear in what small attempts she can do to keep the whole thing off her mind for however long she can.

I think the irony of Vaishnavi’s sacrifice being lost is not just about how no one knows that Parth and Rio meant to do the same but how Nakul is doing it openly and brazenly with the support of his parents who are celebrating and revelling in his success. Parth had to hide the same from his. Also, technically, Parth was at least slightly better in this aspect in the sense that he meant to sell the place to someone else who would do what they wanted with it - here Nakul himself is running the business so likely all the permits and licenses especially regarding selling Liquor are in his name and to get a legal liquor permit in Gujarat is no small feat! We know the state is notorious for legally prohibiting alcohol but the smuggling there of the same is insane if you know the people who can get you the supplies. Would’ve been hilarious if Nakul’s hotel plans were shut down because alcohol was being smuggled into his premises illegally but let’s see, I don’t think this hotel business will last for long anyway because Tulsi is back.

TBH, I also think Nakul looked a bit ashamed of his parents boosting yesterday. But I guess that’s the nature of irony - nature has a funny way of making something happen no matter how much we think we can avoid it. I mean Mahabharata is full of such things, for eg, Gandhari was picked as a bride as she had a boon of having a 100 sons to keep the Kuru dynasty going and especially from Dhritrashtra’s bloodline but we all know how things ended up being eventually.

Also, Vaishnavi was saved by Tulsi so there’s no chance of her being pregnant with Parth’s child who pops up out of nowhere at least. He managed to rip the sleeve of her blouse off and also tear a bit of her pallu but it didn’t go any further. She’s traumatised and rightly so but she didn’t suffer the same fate as Nandini entirely.

Though given Ekta, Parth or Rio could still have a child pop up out of nowhere from a random woman who claims to have had an affair/fling/ONS with either. We already have an example with Niyati and Rio.

Hilarious how Ansh’s every Ansh is now dead or gone too. Bhoomi doesn’t exist per this season at least so far, they already killed Eklavya after the trolling once Aakashdeep entered and now even Rio was killed.

They should have shown Raunak as little bit older taaki kisi ladki ke saath uska aur Nakul kaa love triangle dikha sake. After all ek ladki do bhaai waali parampara kisiko to aage badhani hogi. Then Nandini and Damini will have legit reason to do thappadbaaji

I even remember one of my classmates was a huge fan of Karan Nandani.

I had never watched kutumb, became a fan of Karan Nandini in ksbkbt s1. They were the first couple I loved on television at that time.

@flauntpessimism - felt the same about the kids. They seemed too much sanskari than what one could imagine them to be. All the incidents that have happened in the family could have changed the behaviour of the children to make them go the wrong way.
