I usually never comment here but I needed to say this to bring perspective for some.

War 2 made 52.5 crores in its first day in India only and it was declared a flop almost immediately.

Alpha made less than 10 crore in its first day in India. This is no cause for celebration.

I understand that sone people want to be kind because it is female lead and some want to be mean because it is Alia but the numbers don't lie. Alpha did not have a good start and nothing can change that.

Alpha is part of a franchise it needed to be significantly higher to not be an embarrassment.

Not a fan of Alia and already talked about how poorly this movie is performing.

But this is a bit of an unfair comparison. War 2 is a movie by two male super stars. Alia is over her stardom days , no matter what her aggressive and super active pr try to spin and Sarvari is a fledgling. No one expected them to do as good as War 2 and the budget of War 2 was almost thrice as much as Alpha , if the estimates are correct.

But yes , this tired slop of a movie is still a flop.

I'm not saying it needed to do War 2 numbers but War 2 opened significantly higher but it was declared a flop. Even with 2 superstar male leads and opening over 50 crores it is a flop. The same metric isn't being applied to Alpha.

It has nothing to do with Alia or female leads, the movie is part of an already established franchise, no matter how badly that franchise has fallen from grace.

The bare minimum it needed to do at the box office on opening day was double digits.

I think Alpha failing is more of a referendum on the Spy Universe. There are so many things that has led to this failure and YRF has no one other themselves to blame.

What was the budget of war 2 ?
