@bold , In the novel, I think the hero takes his own life because he doesn't want to become a burden to Song Ran.
I think that's what happened.
But honestly, the middle part of the drama is really slow.
I think there's a plot hole! how did Benjamin manage to bring him back all by himself from the kidnappers?
That fight scene also felt incomplete to me.
The hero closes the door and tells Benjamin to leave, but they never really show what happened after that.
BTW, I also really loved the umbrella scene in Episode 2.
@red When did you start watching C dramas? I only started in 2024.

Hmm.... not exactly. Li Zan and Song Ran eventually married, and they have 2 kids. Li Zan never seemed to come out of his survivor's guilt and kept seeing the Olive Tree in front of him. One day while Song Ran was playing with the kids in the garden he kept looking at them for a while and pulled the trigger. Song Ran gave him a warm family, he was happy but the bug in him would never die so he gave in to his depression in the end. Song Ran later resumed her job as a reporter and died on duty. Her mom took care of their children and they grew up in America.
Benjamin was not a big character in the novel. In fact I liked Sa Xin in the novel but they made him annoying in the drama and gave more screen time to Benjamin.

I've read this scene on Wattpad, but I haven't read the whole novel.Originally posted by: Leprechaun
