Cocktail 2 collected around 5.25 crore nett on Monday which is a drop of a little over 55% but there were places dropping 50% and then others were dropping 70% and its not metro cities dropping 50% and mass centres dropping 70% so its basically going to be about when the dust settles for this film as the figures are all over the place which also means it could be a little higher or even lower on Monday. The range though is 5-5.50 crore nett.

The collections of Cocktail 2 stand at around 50 crore nett till date and it remains to be seen where the film goes from here. Its middling collections and time will tell do they remain middling over the next week or does the rejection of the film with core Hindi speaking areas feed through to the metro areas as well.

For the stars of the film, this is enough and a good result.

The budget and recovery is the producers headache.

Happy for Shahid here. The girls will go on to do many films. The film was important for Shahid.

What does "success" even mean (when focussing on the number game)...

Looking at Cocktail 2 (budget 150 cr), it made - according to Sacnilk - ₹47.50Cr in net collections across 31,542 shows

At the same time, there is Main Vaapas Aaunga (budget 70 cr) which made - with a very subdued start - ₹24.25Cr in net collections across 19,392 shows.

Cocktail 2 had a 20%+ occupancy during the three days... MVA, in the first week, had an occupancy starting with 11% attaining then even 31% and had this weekend another push from 40% to 55%...

As to me, at the moment, the real success-story is Imtiaz' movie (with far lesser shows).

However, I still can see Cocktail 2 as a success for Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika smiley1

The reason why HIT is turning out impossible as a verdict for these romcoms is the fees of these stars

Shahid takes 35cr but why? his movies barely open in double digits..at max it should be 10-12cr which is along the lines cocktail 2 opened..

you cannot make a romcom in 150cr for crying out loud

Shahid taking home 21 cr plus and Kriti just 8 is so telling of the industry's pay gap reality. Even Dinesh who is Kriti's mentor is paying her so less when she is the main BO draw.

The stars and the VFX and shooting abroad mostly are the costliest factors of a movie... and comparing to Western standards the budget is still under 16 million $... however, for a romcom, it's definitely a high budget.

you are comparing budgets but what about collections..if HW puts more on budgets they also collect more..at the end for a profitable venture you have to collect more

TDWP was made on a budget of 945cr INR

but also made 6500cr
