She was telling Ahana to not kill Aryaman too for lubb despite knowing he and the whole family killed them all. This is so stupid. What’s wrong with the writers??

Bollywood logic again. If your dad killed my dad we would be sworn enemies for life and vice verse; we may even try to kill each other in the process and maybe accomplish it too. In Bollywood if 2 people share the similar backstory but if one is an attractive guy and the other is a beautiful girl then regardless of who was involved in killing whom from either sides if they fall in love with each other then they stick together and ride it out no matter what happens and the whole sordid history is ignored as if telling your kids that one of their grandpa killed the other is same as telling them that your grandparents were once very good friends or neighbours who ended up being related when we fell in love and married each other.

It was a lost cause even before she signed the dotted line.

I watched DDLJ in childhood and loved it. Loved it for a long time even after I grew up. It’s still one of my fav movies despite it having some problematic scenes because I love SRK-KJ jodi, the songs, etc. But few years back I was trying to watch it again, I came across that exact scenes that you are talking about. I found it so weird how he was taking her bra and then trying to put his head on her lap. That was sexual harassment, but it was portrayed as something funny?? That was the time I noticed the problematic things in the movie. Somehow in childhood I didn’t realize or notice these things in the movie except for that sleeping scene when he made her feel that they had slept together. That I kind of noticed in childhood too because he made a comment about not sleeping with her in that state because she’s indian? I was so confused because it’s not like it would’ve been alright to sleep with her in that state if she was not Indian. That’s what I remember about that scene.

Most of old movies had lots of problematic scenes/things. In HW shows too. In Pretty little liars, one of the main female characters was shown dating her teacher. She was a minor at the time, and the teacher was in his 20s. They were shown as one of the main couples of the show. I watched it when I was a teenager so even though I found it weird for her to fall in love with the teacher, I didn’t know it was pedophilia and a crime too. Many shipped them as they were one of the popular couples. Now many say how weird that was that a popular show romanticized such a relationship. I highly doubt a show would show such relationship/couple now as people are more aware now

Movies back then got away with so much because people weren’t thinking tbh or even if they had critics calling them out, there was such a close knit ecosystem that wouldn’t even give them a platform to raise their voice let alone make a movement out of it. Now that social media exists you can make a video about practically anything and everything, and if your content has merit and substance, you’ll be heard even if it takes a bit of time for you to get known widely.

It’s why bad movies can’t hide their terrible business anymore, why people call out problematic stuff and get heard even if they don’t speak fancy English and aren’t seen sitting in a posh studio appearing perfectly poised, with perfectly done hair and makeup in designer clothes, rather such people are now openly shunned and called out.

People are now gradually understanding the impact of the consumption of such material on the minds of their children too which is a welcome change and are more careful regarding the kind of material that their kids are exposed too because ironically with the rise in awareness, there’s a rise in the sheer amount of problematic material too which is far more easily available than it ever was.

Here it’s even worse. In naagin, the fl’s sister falls in love with ml’s brother. That brother fakes being in love with her and gets her pregnant. Then on the day of their wedding, he murders her and actually puts the knife into her uterus to brutally kill her as he also knew she was pregnant with his child. He didn’t care about his child too. Murders both. Now the fl who’s naagin wants to kill him for murdering her sister, but the sister tells her in ghost form to remind her that she had made promise to her that she will not kill him as he’s still her love?? 🙄 So what if he murdered her and the baby or was involved in her family’s murder too. All is forgiven because the sister still loves him smiley44

In that wedding-night murder, the ML and his entire family were shown murdering the fl naagin and her entire family. This same sister tells the fl in ghost form before too that fl naagin should not hate the ml as fl loves him. So she should be with him for love sake despite murdering her and her entire family??

The ML Aryaman wasn’t actually involved in murdering the fl and her entire family. It was a fake Arymaan shown to the fl, fl’s sister and viewers. Only the ML’s family was involved in murdering the fl and her entire family, but the fl’s sister doesn’t know that the ml wasn’t involved and that he is innocent. Still she was telling fl to not kill him and instead keep loving him and spend her life with him smiley39

Sorry for the spam but your comment about the teacher student thing reminded me of a movie just now and I had to share. There’s a movie from 90s starring Anil Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

The movie has Karishma playing a school student and she looks to be in her 10th or so grade, so she’s about 16 years old. Anil joins as a teacher and he looks like he’s barely in his early 20s and so the kids don’t take him seriously in her class at least because he’s seen as someone close to their age and not a teacher, which fine. They tease him, prank him and treat him kinda like a friend, which is also fine to an extent. But the problem is that Karishma’s whole character arc in the movie is her being the best student in the school so no matter what she does no one in the staff calls her out because they think, eh, so what if she’s a prankster but at least she’s smart. Even this could’ve been bought by suspending belief but what is incredulous is that she - a student - is constantly flirting with him. She’s basically harassing him and is relentlessly stalking him, sexualising him as if he were some kind of Adonis. Had the tables been reversed this would’ve ensured that Anil and whoever is involved in the movie among the male cast as well as offscreen gets beaten black and blue but when she does it, it’s made out to be cute and just a silly girl enjoying a harmless infatuation, a crush she’s developed as she’s hormonal and experiencing “feelings” for the first time.

This is only half the story.

Anil in order to dissuade Karishma ends up marrying Juhi in a haste. He’s an orphan and so he decides he would marry a girl from an orphanage as well. Juhi is beautiful but she’s absolutely terrible when it comes to cooking, knitting, stitching or any household work. He’s kinda sad about the whole thing but ignores it all because he’s more interested in well, to be blunt, banging her. Karishma then becomes their neighbour as she rents a room in the home next door. Juhi gets angry at her when she finds out that she’s been essentially stalking her husband, and rightfully so, the neighbour who was the landlord, who had been treating Juhi very kindly like a younger sister then scolds her for the same behaviour as she tells Juhi, that it was Karishma who encouraged her to be nice to her and who was sending her delicious home cooked meals that she passed off as made by herself to Anil. She had been lying to him that she had been making those dishes by referring to recipe books, shows and with help from the neighbour who was kind enough to teach her like a sister.

Juhi is then so sorry for scolding Karishma and then the two become friends! Moreover, they bond over Karishma teaching her stuff like how to read, write, cook, knit and even be a siren who can seduce her husband! Juhi shares the details of her personal life and marriage with this girl who is not only a minor but also is infatuated with her husband to the point that she would leave her boarding in her hostel and shift as a PG to stay near him even after school hours are over just so she can continue to flirt with him. Crazily, the landlord is one of her teachers and it’s his wife who finds the whole situation funny but also cute.

Not one person takes Anil complaining about how this whole situation is making him feel very uncomfortable seriously for even a minute. The movie ends with the school being held hostage by literal terrorists because Karishma is the daughter of a famous army or police officer. She dies saving Anil and tells him and Juhi in her dying breath that she would be back as their daughter because she’s never been happier in her life than she was when she was harassing Anil or when she was talking with Juhi about him as she felt “complete”.

I AM NOT MAKING UP A SINGLE THING HERE.

Normalising stupidity is not a new thing for either Bollywood or Indian TV shows since Ekta took over. Before Ekta we had shows that made sense, now it’s not all trash.

He actually is from a rich family. This also isn’t the first time he has worked with Ekta in OTT. He has worked with her before in one or two web series. Now these are the next ones. Last year they had a show in Sonytv too

That Sasha (Chetan Hansraj) of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki now has AI company and handles all the AI for work Ekta’s shows. And I saw Barkha and Ekta yesterday meeting and having fun in Ekta’s house where she had only invited her very few close friends. This is the second time I am seeing them so close, meeting and partying. All in recent few weeks. So I guess if Noina ever enters again, Ekta will make sure to give her lots of focus as Barkha is her close friend now and that’s what she does for her close friends/favorites 🥴
