Eww what’s this in naagin? Why are they showing that sister not wanting to kill her killer and her child’s killer for some lubb?? What nonsense are they showing 🙄🥴🥴
She was telling Ahana to not kill Aryaman too for lubb despite knowing he and the whole family killed them all. This is so stupid. What’s wrong with the writers??

I knew it was wrong for rk to do that, but I loved Vivian and Drashti’s onscreen chemistry. But then I quit after RK turned super toxic and evil. Couldn’t take the show or root for RishBala anymore. So may be these teenagers just like the chemistry, but I know many don’t find it wrong too
Never been a Vivian fan so I never tuned into his shows.
I think a large part of why people don’t find such onscreen relationships on TV problematic though is because of the influence of Bollywood and any other regional cinema that they grew up watching. Movies desensitised the generation of our parents to crap as they almost normalised stalking, harassment and na bhi haa hai attitude when it comes to women that when TV shows did the same things or even worse the audience was not even aware of what they were supporting. When you grew up watching men people would idolise be it Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan being rude, demeaning and downright disrespectful towards their heroines in Bollywood and the regional superstars of the other movie industries; only to ultimately land with the woman in question it seemed normal. It’s only now that a certain amount of awareness has sunk into people but it’s not yet enough wherein they’re able to revisit these old films in a new light and find what they once liked as something problematic. Take DDLJ for example, it’s considered the greatest movie ever in terms of romance and holds a record for being the longest running movie in India in a theatre for 3 decades consecutively broken only now by Dhurandhar. What was cute back then is not so cute now. Raj meets a stranger and in their first interaction he picks up her bra the way he does, as it drops from her bag embarrassing her. When the poor embarrassed girl picks up a book to kill time and not interact with him any further, he takes things a step further and escalates the problematic interaction by a mile. Had he only been yapping constantly while she had no intention to pursue or engage in a conversation with him, it wouldn’t have been as bad but we see him practically put his head in her lap only to point out that she has been holding the book upside down all along. Couldn’t he have done that without intruding her personal space, especially when at that point she’s still a stranger, one who was very embarrassed already by her intimate apparel slipping out of her bag which lands in the hands of a guy no less already; so why couldn’t he have been more respectful and responsible even if he meant to tease her about the book? Would it have killed him to say that line from a distance even if he laughed and annoyed her just the same Tell me if any girl IRL would like this kind of thing happening to them? Worse, when he makes her think they slept together that’s not a matter to joke about especially when she was inebriated; not only does it matter here because of her upbringing which believes that intimacy is reserved for marriage alone but even otherwise. Had Simran been raised by parents who had no qualms about their daughters sleeping with whoever as long as they stayed safe and were responsible when it comes to protection; it still would a joke that could have rattled her regardless because her consent was not sought and this was not a partner but a stranger who had turned into a forced travel companion. The fact that this is her first ever trip without her friends was itself a very big deal to her and she knew it came as a gesture of love and trust in her sensibilities from her parents as it is, IRL, Simran wouldn’t have forgotten nor forgiven such a joke IMO even if she’d still accompanied Raj to join her friends later on. She would’ve been rightly traumatised by his joke and had she confided in her friends who had a little bit of brain and self respect, they’d have asked him to stay away from her and helped her by ensuring that she’s not alone in his company after that at any point for the rest of the trip. All of this is based off of his behaviour alone, I don’t even need to go into details regarding how Simran’s dad not approving Raj was actually very logical and practical, coming from a place of love for his child not just patriarchal mindset. He had blindly chosen a wrong guy for his daughter, relying on trusting his friend, but he ultimately came around to see his error but Raj was still not a guy who would’ve been picked. Sure, he did all that he did to win her family over but does he have any future plans for his career? How would he support Simran? Are there any career opportunities he’s pursuing that have no relevance to his poor academic performance? What happens if his dad is no more, can Raj handle the estate and the inheritance from his dad enough to not blow it all away in less than a decade essentially beggaring himself and his wife and kids in the process while he does so? Would Simran be allowed to study and have a career if she so chose post marriage? Would he support her if she does these things by helping her raise the kids and taking responsibility considering that there’s hardly any woman in the home to help Simran out once married. These questions still remained valid from a POV where love and attraction don’t sustain a marriage even if someone is nice. Nicety doesn’t keep a roof over heads nor does it essentially provide food on your plates.
yeah, aditi definitely did shine when he rebuked the ML for his stupid condition. afterwards, the show lost its wits.
It was a remake so naturally they didn’t use their brain and felt if it worked in Turkey it would work in India too and it did for a while for a select few.

I’m so glad I was neutral back then otherwise I would’ve gone mad 😅
I watched DDLJ in childhood and loved it. Loved it for a long time even after I grew up. It’s still one of my fav movies despite it having some problematic scenes because I love SRK-KJ jodi, the songs, etc. But few years back I was trying to watch it again, I came across that exact scenes that you are talking about. I found it so weird how he was taking her bra and then trying to put his head on her lap. That was sexual harassment, but it was portrayed as something funny?? That was the time I noticed the problematic things in the movie. Somehow in childhood I didn’t realize or notice these things in the movie except for that sleeping scene when he made her feel that they had slept together. That I kind of noticed in childhood too because he made a comment about not sleeping with her in that state because she’s indian? I was so confused because it’s not like it would’ve been alright to sleep with her in that state if she was not Indian. That’s what I remember about that scene.Originally posted by: EkPaheli

Most of old movies had lots of problematic scenes/things. In HW shows too. In Pretty little liars, one of the main female characters was shown dating her teacher. She was a minor at the time, and the teacher was in his 20s. They were shown as one of the main couples of the show. I watched it when I was a teenager so even though I found it weird for her to fall in love with the teacher, I didn’t know it was pedophilia and a crime too. Many shipped them as they were one of the popular couples. Now many say how weird that was that a popular show romanticized such a relationship. I highly doubt a show would show such relationship/couple now as people are more aware now
