I just saw the movie, and it is an average comedy that works only in parts. While the story has tremendous potential for a hilarious joyride, the final product only makes you laugh intermittently. The plot is stretched so thin in the second half that the overall impact is diluted.
The film has a fine start, establishing the comedy of errors right away. The entire subplot where Ayushmann's character is supposedly in a relationship with Sara/Rakul initially, and later with a man, is quite funny. In the first half, the jokes flow seamlessly and most of them land well, despite the thin storyline.
However in the second half, things eventually start to feel repetitive and the jokes recycled. The situations feel forced and overly hysterical in an attempt to manufacture laughs.The climax is a major sore point. Every character is "tied to the rope," and instead of evoking laughter, the scene feels irritating.The finale at the airport feels hurried, with every conflict being resolved far too conveniently.
Ayushmann Khurrana is quite effective and performs well. These roles come naturally to him, and he feels effortless here.
Sara Ali Khan is decent.certainly better than in some of her recent films and looks drop-dead gorgeous.
Rakul Preet Singh raises a few laughs, although her role is not as significant as the other two leads. Her character disappears frequently and can be quite annoying at times.
Wamiqa Gabbi has a better role here than in Bhooth Bangla and performs well; her chemistry with Ayushmann is particularly good.
Overall, it is not a bad watch, but it’s not particularly good either.An okay film.
