Finished reading it. And I must say it was more fast paced than the things I have read. The heroine being a straightforward person kept me hooked!

Thanks for sharing the rec!

Do recommend some more.

I read the rebirth of the star general. Was too long but I finished it.

I am looking forward to the other two!

I also reread some of the books I liked smiley9

Hockey romance and depressing? That’s a first for me—I’m curious, though.

I just read Lost Husband by Katherine Centre, and I really liked it! It’s one of the books I’ve genuinely enjoyed reading in recent times.

I’ve heard good things about The Reappearance of Rachel Price. I’ve added it to my never-ending TBR pile (I’ll get around to reading it soon).

I read one thriller by Vi Keeland—it was okay.

@bold: I’m not a huge fan of audiobooks. I mean, I used to listen to one or two during BTRC, but not much. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to reading rather than listening—I’m just not used to audiobooks. But I’ll give this a read.

Audiobooks take a while to get used to, and everyone has very different/specific preferences that can honestly vary from book to book. Some audiobooks feel too fast even on 1.0 speed, and with others I feel like I have to put them on 2x speed to get through them (usually memoirs).

And sometimes narrators can ruin the experience. I couldn't listen to Game Changer because the narration was genuinely so ass. I listened to this man speak for five minutes, five minutes of my life I'll never get back, and it made me throw my phone across the room. Or like, while listening to Not Quite Dead Yet, even though I got through the whole thing and really enjoyed it, the narrator had this specific rasp to her voice that made it sound like she got into the recording booth with a cold and sometimes that would take me out of it.

Just because this series has been mentioned sporadically throughout the forum, I wanted to say that I've officially finished all five books in the Windy City series by Liz Tomforde, and although I did like all of them, I do have a ranking:

  1. Caught Up (5.25 Stars)
  2. Play Along (5 Stars)
  3. The Right Move (4.5 Stars)
  4. Mile High (4.25 Stars)
  5. Rewind It Back (4 Stars)

Yeah that’s why I have kept Love Song on hold. If you happen to read, do share reviews!

@bold: oh so do I. smiley37 I can’t seem to help myself picking them up, but ultimately return them read halfway or not at all smiley36

@violet : forum itself has gone silent. I missed stalking threads, everyone’s TBR, having fun. You too, Lizzie! It was great catching up with you! smiley31

Since you asked and I read it, thought I'd give you my review. Did not love it, did not hate it either. Overall it was kinda meh, started out good, and the dad's chats were hilarious, so was the whole "extended" Briar U family getting together for the badminton tournament, but the main couple did not pull me in enough and that's what I read a romance for. So yeah. Won't miss anything much if you give this a miss but that's just my opinion. Also, Elle Kennedy has always been like this for me. The off campus series - I loved The Deal but was kinda meh about the rest of the books. Second series (Briar U), did not read the first book, 2nd was boring af, third was okay, did not read the 4th. Campus diaries - I liked the 2nd book more than the 1st (Diana- Shane were hilarious) although I was really keen to read about Hannah-Garrett's daughter (they remain my fave couple of all). Same with their son - Wyatt whom I was hoping would get a better love story but idk he was kinda a d*ck and I did not like Blake (Logan and Grace's daughter) much either. Buy hey, don't let this put you off reading it if you want to smiley37
