Wow. An exhilarating run-chase, punctuated by an emphatic exclamation mark at the end. Salil and Klaasen with the finishing act, but this was a coherent chasing effort throughout. Abhishek and Head set the stage with another whirlwind powerplay. There was a brief passage, especially once Abhishek and Head were dismissed, where MI would have felt they could apply the squeeze. But they ran into Klaasen, who began his innings with some risk-free strokes before clicking into over-drive and zinging past the five-time champions.

Lots to ponder for MI. They bowled on both sides of the wicket, and kept dishing out boundary balls. Their decision to bring in Shardul as their Impact Player and then not use him at all was also baffling, as was their ploy to not begin their innings with Jacks, despite the obvious off-spin match-up against Abhishek and Head. Their season now hangs in the balance, and they will need to find a way to get it back on track soon.
