Ansh eventually became Mihir’s laadla in S1 and honestly, I really dont want to see a repeat of that dynamic in S2. Like you said what will make this track interesting is how each character reacts to Riyansh. And out of everyone Nandini will be the most affected especially if he actually turns out to be her son. Because think about it… thats not just a twist, thats trauma on another level. Your own son,own blood being a carbon copy of your abuser that is horrifying. Its not just about facing the past, its about reliving it in a completely new form. And we have already seen how deeply Nandini was affected by Ansh. So if this angle plays out it has the potential to be extremely intense emotionally.
Tulsi, on the other hand... I feel will eventually come to terms with Riyansh. Thats been her pattern initial resistance, then acceptance once she processes the situation. But the journey to that acceptance is what matters. Also, I have a feeling S2 might exclude or alter certain parts of Ansh’s past, like his involvement in Vishal’s death. In fact, it wouldnt be surprising if they completely change Shobha’s backstory as well ....maybe she was never married to Vishal in this version unless the makers explicitly bring it up later.
At this point, its quite clear that the makers are selectively picking elements from S1, not following it fully. So we probably have to view S2 as its own adapted narrative rather than a strict continuation. That said, based on the promos...especially the background score and overall tone...Riyansh doesnt seem like a character meant for redemption. He feels closer to Ansh than to Karan, despite Karan raising him which is why I feel his fate might already be sealed and if that happens he biggest question is....who will take that final call?Because if history repeats itself, it could very well be Tulsi again. The idea that Tulsi might have to shoot her own grandson, just like she did her son… that is a haunting parallel. But this time the dynamics are different. Back then Karan stood firmly by Tulsi. Now? Karan loves Riyansh like his own blood. So will he still stand by Tulsi if things go that far? Or will this create a rift?....and if Riyansh turns out to be Nandini’s son, then Karan’s position becomes even more complicated....how does he support Nandini through something like that while also dealing with his own bond with Riyansh?...The track on paper is actually very strong. There is a lot of emotional and psychological depth they can explore. But the portrayal so far feels a bit underwhelming. And honestly, casting is a concern too....Akashdeep, while powerful as Ansh, doesnt convincingly fit the look of a 25 - 26 year old here. That disconnect might end up affecting how seriously the audience takes the character. So overall the idea has huge potential but execution will decide whether it becomes impactful like S1 or just another missed opportunity and I feel this track will not be impactful because it's not possible to accept Akashdeep playing 25-26 yr old
Wonderful comment once again.
To begin with, the execution is what I am most afraid of at this point because while the OG actors have the chops to deliver onscreen, they’re only aa good as their script, director and music choices.
For eg, Aakash had no impact as Eklavya whatsoever because the character wasn’t strongly written and trying hard to bank on his own iconic character was where the makers failed. They didn’t work on his character, and at that point the show itself was just being dragged and bad.
This time around they need to be careful of the same. They have already gotta know that the actor while inspiring recall value is a misfit and a miscast for the role given that he quite clearly looks his age which is twice the age of his onscreen character.
TBH, the experience is jarring but if the show can pull it off based off of performances, writing and chemistry alone, the audience will watch it as they’re doing now.
This requires credible performances from the OG veterans and the newbies alike. I think a key element of this track is that Rio will put everyone at unease especially his own mom and grandma. If he tries to fit in, blend in with the family he may remind them of the tactics Ansh employed by his looks and mannerisms combined. If he doesn’t, he still ends up being a stranger in SN while apparently living with family. In short, he’s bound to be othered no matter what and then he will lean into what he’s been perceived as regardless of what he was and what he wasn’t.
Sometimes, tragedies write themselves. No one needs to do anything.
Nandini no doubt has her toughest battles ahead yet which is why I think she might be the one to pull the trigger this time around, quite literally. In a way it makes history repeat itself with her, only this time around she will be on the other side of that barrel and standing where Tulsi once stood torn between her calling as a woman, a human being and her heart as a mother. What would make her being the one even more tragic, psychologically cruel and basically capable of driving anyone to insanity for real would be that when she pulls that trigger, she sees that face. So, does it feel like catharsis, to finally punish that face that has no doubt tormented her for decades now and will do forever, like some shadow she can’t get rid off no matter what she does or does she feel absolutely shattered that she’s killed her own child, ashamed that in the end her womb produced exactly what she dreaded it would - nothing helped and made a difference - her blood, Karan’s upbringing and values, absolutely nothing. What does she lean into? Can her mind survive what she’s about to endure? Would she be able to rise above whatever feelings are bound to haunt her as a mother, regardless of what happens. Does she celebrate? Does she mourn? Does she weep hysterically or laugh in the same way? Does she think an old wound has been healed or cry out in pain over the new one which has to hurt just as much if not more as a mother?
This is quite frankly a train wreck we can’t look away from as we know it’s a disaster waiting to happen. We even know some of the beats on which this will play out and how another innocent girl is gonna be a victim for no fault of hers, sacrificed like she means nothing to fuel the vengeance of someone who couldn’t escape his fate.
They can pull off so much if done well. It will be a psychological drama wrapped into a family drama about saas bahus.
