This post is for those librandus who are celebrating pakistan’s so called mediator role in the US-iran situation while mocking india and its government.
Yes, pakistan played a mediator role, good for them. But lets talk about the actual reality.
The reality is that Trump chickened out again. He wanted to exit the war as his approval ratings were dropping day by day, impeachment pressure was building and everything was going against him. So obviously, he needed an exit but without looking weak or scared.
Thats where pakistan came in. He used them as a convenient messenger to tweet about a ceasefire, then acted like he was accepting their request. After that, he declared victory and claimed iran had agreed and so on.
The truth is, this role could have been played by any US ally, NATO countries, the EU, japan, south korea. But most of them have distanced themselves from trump in recent times so pakistan was simply the most available option.
And lets be real, trump’s earlier rhetoric about destroying whole iranian civilization was never credible. The consequences of such an action would be catastrophic, not just for iran or the middle east but for the entire world, including the US itself. Too much is at stake. It was political posturing, not a real strategy.
As for iran, im not even sure if they truly agreed or not. But realistically, any country exhausted by prolonged war would consider a ceasefire. Its better to pause and regroup than continue a draining war. So thats likely their side of the story.
Coming to pakistan, this is beneficial for them as well. It helps slightly whitewash their recent image about how they killed 400 innocent civilian in afghanistan. This mediator narrative gives them some PR advantage.
But honestly, whats the point of celebrating when the country is surviving on loans, facing economic instability and losing major investments?? This wont suddenly attract investors or fix internal issues like unrest in balochistan or tensions with afghanistan. At best, its temporary image management.
India, on the other hand, did the right thing by staying away from this pre planned fake ceasefire. Its better to keep distance from that psycho leader. Being close to him is more dangerous than staying away.
Personally, im far more happy about recent developments in india, like achieving criticality in the second stage of its nuclear power programme. That’s a massive milestone, yet hardly anyone is talking about it.
I also came across news that japan has opened a new government office focused on India-Japan economic trade, the first of its kind for any country. Thats the kind of progress that actually matters.
Its better for India to stay focused on development and avoid getting dragged into unnecessary geopolitical drama.
