🏏IPL 2026:Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings, 12th Match🏏

Match 12 of the ongoing IPL 2026 will see Kolkata Knight Riders take on Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on today, April 6, promising an exciting contest between bat and ball.

Kolkata Knight Riders have endured a disappointing start to their campaign, losing both of their opening matches.

They began with a defeat against Mumbai Indians and followed it up with another loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

With back-to-back setbacks, KKR will be eager to turn things around and register its first win of the season. Returning to their home ground could provide the much-needed boost, as the support of the Eden Gardens crowd might inspire a stronger performance.

In contrast, Punjab Kings have been one of the standout teams so far this season, impressing with both their strategy and execution.

They kicked off their campaign with a thrilling last-over chase against Gujarat Titans and then produced a dominant display to defeat Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. Riding high on confidence, PBKS will aim to continue their winning momentum and secure a third consecutive victory.

With KKR desperate to bounce back and PBKS looking to maintain their perfect run, an intense and closely fought encounter is on the cards.

KKR enter IPL 2026 seeking their first win, relying on a strong top order of Ajinkya Rahane, Finn Allen, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, all in good form. The middle order, led by Cameron Green, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh, needs to contribute consistently, especially with Andre Russell retired.

Lower-order batters Anukul Roy and Sunil Narine are expected to add depth, while Narine’s spin remains crucial. Bowling responsibilities fall on Varun Chakravarthy, Vaibhav Arora, and Kartik Tyagi, though Chakravarthy and Arora have struggled early in the season. KKR vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Live streaming, head-to-head, pitch and weather report | Cricket News - News9live

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be up against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 12 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens on Monday, April 6, 2026.

It has been a contrasting first week for both the teams as PBKS are sitting comfortably at the 4th spot in the points table, after winning their first two matches, while KKR are tottering at the second last position, losing both their initial games.

KKR, who were grappling with injuries to some of their premier bowlers, including Harshit Rana and Akashdeep Singh, have looked a bit short on the bowling front. On top of that, their spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, on whom they're relying heavily, have been out of colour so far in the tournament, resulting in them losing both matches.

Meanwhile, their big-buck all-rounder, Cameron Green, hasn't fired with the bat yet, and the looming questions on his bowling clearance have added to KKR's woes. They will have to sort out their shortcomings, especially with the ball, before heading into a critical fixture against an in-form PBKS.

IPL 2026: KKR vs PBKS Preview: PBKS look unstoppable as KKR struggle with chaos - Rediff.com

PBKS have looked sublime after convincingly winning both their matches. Last year's runners-up are looking like a well-oiled unit under the inspiring pair of Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer.

Their young guns like Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly have fared quite well in the batting department, whereas Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen have kept the opposition batter in check with their prowess with the ball.

IPL 2026, KKR vs PBKS 12th Match Match Preview - KKR looking for first points against in-form PBKS

Ajinkya Rahane

All eyes will be on the KKR captain, who has faced heavy criticism after back-to-back defeats. Rahane showed his intent with a fluent 67 off 40 balls in the opening game against Mumbai Indians, but couldn’t carry that form into the next match, managing just 8 off 10 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With pressure mounting, this game offers him another chance to silence critics and lead from the front.

2. Finn AllenAllen has provided explosive starts despite not converting them into big scores yet. He smashed 37 off 17 balls in the opener and followed it up with a blistering 28 off just 7 balls in the next game. If he gets through the powerplay, Allen has the ability to dismantle any bowling attack, making him a key threat at the top.

Yuzvendra ChahalThe battle between Chahal and Rahane could be decisive. KKR vs PBKS – April 6, 7:30 PM

Shreyas Iyer: Returning to face his former franchise, Iyer adds an emotional subplot to the contest. Having led KKR to the title in 2024, he now arrives as PBKS captain in strong form, fresh off a composed 50 off 29 in the previous game. With confidence and added motivation, Iyer will be central to PBKS’ plans once again. With KKR struggling for balance and PBKS looking well-settled across departments, individual performances from these key players could ultimately tilt the contest in what promises to be a high-scoring encounter.

KKR vs PBKS, 12th Match at Kolkata, IPL 2026

With Kolkata’s batting yet to click except for Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who scored back to back fifties in the first 2 matches, the Knights might opt to reunite the explosive Finn Allen with his New Zealand opening partner Tim Seifert. These two batters had thrashed South Africa in the semifinal in the same ground just last month so it won’t hurt the Knights to give them a chance on top.

But that might mean that KKR might be forced to bench their big buy Cameron Green who hasn’t shone with the bat while Cricket Australia still hasn’t cleared him to bowl. So KKR might look to take a punt at Seifert here as Green is just currently playing as a pure batter. Punjab, meanwhile, will likely go for an unchanged team.
