The main villains in Gautam's life are damini and his son! Damini is the gold digger in this case..

Gautam, already got his share and goofed up his business, then he didn't state his demands clearly.. and now he is sulking like a baby, jealous of his own siblings!

I wish they had kept the main premise more or less same with the clues they gave us and still made sense.

Like we know Gautam had lost money twice and Mihir bailed him out both times. Gautam could have been shown as being happy about the fact that his dad helped him again but that’s exactly what pisses Damini off big time. She thinks her husband is not just bad at business and handling money but thanks to his dad he thinks he’s got a cushion, a sort of insurance policy to always bail him out of bad situations. Gautam thinks there’s nothing wrong if a parent helps their child out but it’s the idea that Damini doesn’t want her son/s to grow up with because not only does it make them think they can screw up repeatedly and help will arrive regardless, but they’ll never learn responsibility, accountability and lessons from the mistakes they make be it in any sphere of life.

She also knows Mihir could bail Gautam out but Gautam may not be able to get his sons out in the future if history were to repeat itself and she’s loathe to go begging to Karan or any other family member for help as it’s obviously a very humiliating prospect to even imagine let alone live through.

Damini leaves Gautam and gives him an ultimatum to pick himself up again without any help from his family and then come and get her back with their sons.

Gautam thinks his father helping him out was the root of the problem, but lets it slide. Then he tries picking up his business again but fails, somehow he gets involved in legal education by something that sparks his interest there and he realises he is quite good at being a lawyer than a businessman.

He gets into law school, completes his education but practice is slow to pick up considering he’s an older man who started out late already. Damini has obviously not come back to him as he’s yet to prove his worth by himself and so his kids stay away too from him.

He’s angry at his parents because in the years that all this happened they were so busy with everything else that they didn’t quite bother to know what happened to their eldest child, they practically didn’t call Damini and their sons ever to find out anything. Not one call to scold or probe why Gautam and his wife and kid/s don’t turn up for any of the family’s celebrations and gatherings, any weddings. He’s angry because he’s been unable to win his wife back and thinks his parents couldn’t care less about his existence let alone that of his wife and kid/s.

He feels neglected, abandoned and forgotten by them as they never called much or didn’t bother to show up at his home, unannounced or not. It’s like they don’t even seem to find it odd that he isn’t reaching out to them or isn’t communicating or visiting them and that riles him up, at the base of this anger is the seed of the thought that Damini has planted by accusing him of being incapable without the help of his father.

So in a twisted way, Gautam can make sense that his parents have been too busy to even remember him, but also be not 100% right about his grudges as that’s how real life functions, no one is completely blameless and right.

Damini gets a valid enough reason to do what she did too and the jibe about Parth inheriting the property can be worked in there by simply saying that Baa was also so sure of his incapacity to take care of things that she would rather leave her most precious possession - her first home with Bapuji to Parth than to him. Baa wanted it preserved and safe and even she thought he wouldn’t be able to take care of it and she gave it to Parth instead which is as good as giving it to Karan, whom she found more capable. Baa simply chose to be diplomatic with her choice so as to keep the tradition alive of the ancestral home going to the eldest son’s lineage and choosing a literal child at the time of the will reading so as to ensure no one would ever question him for manipulating her into giving the place to her or accuse him of underhanded means nor ask it back from him. Not to mention it wouldn’t insult Gautam as much as it would’ve if she’d given it to Karan directly instead of him by bypassing Gautam.

This way, the home in Kutch, apparently worth crores goes to the eldest son’s lineage - Mansukh to Mihir to Karan to Parth. It simply changes course after Mihir’s generation.

Gautam has gotten this irrational jealousy so far in his head that he’s citing saga sautela for Baa and Karan! Karan is her great grandson and there’s no saga sautela about him because like it or not biological facts state that Mihir is Baa’s blood, Karan is his! So Karan is as much a saga par pota of Baa as Gautam is, he simply has a different mother biologically! By all means Karan and by extension Parth do have a right to inherit from Baa as they’re biologically related to her and are her descendants! Tulsi maybe Baa’s favourite person in the whole world, her dearest child of the heart but Gautam’s assertions that Baa consider Karan sautela simply because Tulsi is not biologically Karan’s mother is absurd and wrong!

Besides Parth was also chosen as a trustee of sorts but his age made it impossible to give him the role officially and Baa simply chose to make sure that he was the temporary placeholder for her true successor - Tulsi - as we know.

All the previous things could have been worked into the script and still been a bit more coherent than whatever this is.

This way there’s no stupid celebrating the reading of a will by being excited about it nor is Damini as a character suddenly turned into a gold-digger, nor is Gautam so stupid or jealous or delusional or whatever we wanna call him. He’s simply a child feeling left out, a husband who failed and a father who finds himself as the example of what not to do which hurts him immensely. He’s simply lashing out at the two people who he knows will take it because they love him unconditionally and he doesn’t know how to be vulnerable and cry again in front of them even if that’s all he wants because at this age pride, ego stops him and jealousy fuels him on to stay away to some extent boosted by him knowing underneath that his parents are not entirely wrong here but he just wants to be mad at someone for what went wrong in his life and his parents are the most convenient and safest scapegoats. He can even throw in a had you not given me away to Kiran Chachu and raised me yourselves maybe I would have turned out different but you didn’t care from the beginning.

Alas…..

BTW, Suja hua mooh and Suji ka dhokla was inspired and quite frankly the most hilarious thing I’ve heard on the show in forever. I really wanna know how Sumeet and Ritu kept a straight face when he said that line!

I can imagine a restaurant called Suja Hua Mooh owned by Gautam now with Suji Ka Dhokla being its most popular dish
