It's Meghnad only... Meaning roar/sound (naad) of clouds (megh).

I know...but its spelt as naath...not naad where D used in the end of a word pronounces as D for Drum..one should at least add an h there if not th.....plus he didn't even use double a...Meghnad pronounces as MeghNAD...I have a bit of OCD when it comes to Sanskrit phonetics....

Indrajit is called the Lord of the clouds...hence 'naath'...roar of the clouds is also fine but its 'naad' not NAD...

Naath would mean lord or swami. Meghnath would mean Lord of clouds.

In south they usually add an extra h like swathi instead of swati. Lalitha instead of Lalita.

I have been reading and hearing it as meghnad only....

Besides meghnad name was given because his cry at birth was like roar of clouds.

I just edited my post addressing this...Lord of the clouds is his name because he conquered the skies...but even if you want to say roar of the clouds, you still have to use double a...naad....

With all due respect...North Indians usage of Sanskrit has gone through a lot of changes thanks to the various external factors...You guys mix a lot of Hindi into Sanskrit...South India oth was able to preserve Sanskrit and the phonetics in its original form for the most part...

Okay I'm not getting into this argument about who's Sanskrit is better or who presereved it better....

Just google why he was named meghnad/ meghnaad or मेघनाद (roar of clouds) instead of meghnath (lord of clouds).

Aa (meghnaad) would have been the correct form of writing the word मेघनाद in English but it's very common to see people write a single a instead of double aa in many english words when transliterating hindi to english.

Indrajit means jisne Indra ko jeeta ho meaning won over Indra (which he actually did later in his life). Here also इंद्रजीत can be written both as indrajit or Indrajeet... Both are acceptable.

Meghnad name was given at birth. Indrajit name he acquired after defeating Indra.
