Although I had watched Yami in some other movies, I never chose to watch a movie because of her and as for Haq, I just was confident that she would give a good performance. At that time (Nov. 2025) I didn't even know that she was married to Aditya Dhar
Contrary to Yami, I appreciated Tripti from her Sajid Ali film on and deliberately chose to watch her next two ventures with Anushka's production house... I got a bit taken aback about her Animal-choice (but I'm sure it was because of working with Ranbir)...and then I saw what her collaboration with Dharma did to her... and now she works with Vanga again... *sigh*
I didn't know who Tripti was until I would read online about how people were upset she lost Filmfare OTT for Qala to Alia for Darlings. Then she broke out from Animal. I never saw her in a movie until BB3. Now I've seen all her movies, save for Animal. I know Parineeti, who I think was supposed to do the Rashmika role in Animal, also had wanted to work with Ranbir for a very long time. I'm curious if Tripti did the movie just for Ranbir or just for Vanga (knowing his movies are successes) or for both reasons. Dharma didn't really help her although Dhadak 2 was one of her best roles. Have not seen the original movie it's a remake of but I heard the female role in the original was very small so Dharma increased it for Tripti. That film served her well in terms of acting but sadly didn't advance her career since nobody saw it. I still find it funny that Dhadak 2 actually has a happier ending than the first Dhadak, but the subject matter and lead-up to the ending is so depressing that it's considered a less feel-good movie than the first Dhadak.
Allegedly the female role is better in Spirit. It must have been if Deepika was in consideration for the role, but I was disappointed that Deepika was willing to even look at the movie or work with Vanga. It does show me that in the movie industry, there's rarely anything as principles. People only care about what sells and they'll sell their morals to sign onto a film that they know will work, regardless of content. Hence, Ranveer working on Dhurandhar to revive his flagging career or Deepika seriously considering working with Vanga in Spirit, despite it going against her entire fandom and feminist values (I will give her credit that when she was supposed to work with some accused director of sexual harassment, her fans got upset and she did pull out of working with that director). Alia chumming up to the Dhars is another example. Ironically enough, Ranbir is the most unscathed here of this foursome since his public persona has always been rather toxic, that he's never been associated with progressive films or themes for him to betray his persona or fans.
In contrast, I'm glad the Khans have never sold themselves out or their principles. I remember some rumors about SRK working with Vanga, which I never believed. Hrithik also falls in this camp, always making very progressive films, although Fighter might be an exception. I do remember he clarified that he didn't necessarily agree with the film's climax or the dialogue he was given but he felt as an actor, it was his duty to recite the script lines even if he doesn't agree with it. Which might be a copout. But 90s actors seem better about sticking to their principles and values and not changing public personas just to cash in on whatever genre has taken vogue. It's the newer ones who seem more willing to go wherever the wind is blowing. Anushka being another example considering she starred in PK but seems to not have understood the film's message based on her personal life. Biggest hypocrite in the industry is definitely PC though, since she changes her persona and views based on what country she's in or who her direct audience is.
This is also why I value Kartik and how even with TMMTMTTM failing, he did not disown the movie. He praised it and how he was proud to work on such a progressive film that doesn't rely on toxic masculinity, violence, and an overdose of testosterone like Dhurandhar. He hasn't made such types of movies and I hope he never will, since he has a huge female fandom. Don 3 role, rumored for him, would be perfect since it's sleek rather than aggressively violent. Similarly, I remember in a recent interview with Rani, she also said something about how she values all her movies. She doesn't have a least favorite role because all the roles she's ever played will mean something to at least someone out there so she's not going to hurt her fans' sentiments by dissing one part or another. It showed me a consideration for her fans and explains the consistency in her work.
I wish more current actors realized that their filmographies are more than just box office records but also curate a specific legacy for what they believe in and what they represent. Kartik, as well as Taapsee, out of the current crop of actors, seem to be one of the few who understand this. I haven't seen this with anyone else, whether that's Ranbir, Alia, Vicky, Tripti, or now even Deepika and Ranveer. Maybe Kriti is the only other one who seems intent on only doing film roles she's proud of and that have good messages that don't spread negativity. I know she's spoken about how there are certain roles she wouldn't want to do, let alone glorify. I hope she really means that.
