I totally disagree. It’s the characterization that has been highlighted here not the fact Akshay overshadowed. Akshay simply went viral over a few steps but Ranveer has carried this movie on his shoulder by staying in his character, which was being the right or left hand man of Rahman. PR and social media will play their roles but anyone would be blind not to see Ranveer’s character’s trajectory in the movie that kept growing exponentially.

Imo, all this 'overshadowing' remarks are petty things... the ensemble cast really is what elevates this movie... Ranveer - without any doubt - is the main protagonist, but his main co-actors are good-to-excellent actors, too. I trust my own impression...and SRK's words when he praised Akshaye's acting at the launch of the Ittefaq remake (better forget what Karan utters at the beginning):

Bobby (Animal) and Arjun Kapoor (Singham) has serious competition as some good negative characters evolved from this film.
