Papa kjo has many ways to convince a director to cast his beti. We have to remember that parineeti was replaced by alia in udta Punjab yet the movie had no tie to dharma. Kjo is that powerful.

According to Udta Punjab, it had been more than 'only' Karan's influence in the industry (although at that time it was still more than now, I guess). Alia herself did a lot to convince Abhishek Chaubey to take her (workshop, auditions, conversations)...and Shahid (the lead actor) supported her...

However, I'm not really sure if Pralay happens the way it is announced in the media.

She herself said that the director had to make peace with her casting and that he never imagined her in the role. Now that you are mentioning Shahid I remember about him pressuring the director to cast her.

It would be nice if one tries a bit to do research before uttering things that didn't happen like one writes them.

Abhishek hadn't watched anything of Alia except SOTY, so of course, when she contacted him directly with the wish to get the role, he was v e r y hesitant and not interested... Alia had read the script at the time she worked with Shahid in Shaandaar and of course Shahid supported her in her endeavour as he got to know her acting talent (not yet visible in SOTY)...however (as I already wrote), she didn't get this role on a platter - she worked hard for that - and Shahid did n o t pressurize Abhishek.

She was considered for Odyssey also but because she was busy with Alpha, she rejected it! She was also approached for Varanasi but she rejected it as SLB locked her up in Love& War sets....
