S1 discussion is brought in because they have presumed we know most of these characters and didn’t bother to establish them again. Like Saahil was brought in and via him now we have Dev. Dev didn’t exist in S1, Saahil had different sons in that season - Nakul (adopted from Gautam Damini), Lakshya (born to Ganga) and Joydeep (foster son he raised after his parents passed away who would go onto marry Bhoomi).
Now they are changing children, Karan and his cousins as well as siblings had. But for us to make sense of anything at all we need to understand who Karan is in the first place, how is he related to Saahil, Daksha etc.
We are told Parth is Tanya’s son in this season but they never showed her this season so far and we have not been given any context as to her relationship with Karan in this season, for that again we need to refer to the original canon.
Without the backdrop of the first season we won’t even know how these people are related to each other let alone know where they come from and why Karan would fight with Mihir in this season and ask him if he’s aware what tag would be stuck with him had Tulsi not accepted him. He obviously meant Mihir accepted him as his son and Karan could call himself a Virani thanks to Tulsi, else he would be called all sorts of slurs owing to him being an illegitimate child.
All of these nuances and details are lost without S1 and so many conversations make no sense. Heck, Pari, Hrithik and Angad are in this season and we got told nothing more about their parents beyond the fact that they’re Anupam and Kesar’s kids. In this season we got no idea why would Tulsi bother to raise the children of a dead cousin. But in S1 we are told Kesar is the only family left to Tulsi post her father’s death. She literally has no other blood relatives left. Hence Kesar becomes important. We know Anupam’s only sibling is Mandira and that itself tells you everything about why a dying Anupam Kesar would rather trust their children in Tulsi Mihir’s care than his sister.
These discussions are not a waste of time or nostalgia or anything else but legit laying down of groundwork because else we are legit clueless and without any answers in so many of these situations.
