There was no novelty in her plot beyond the fact that the second husband showed up on the show about a year later. That’s it.

I personally think Amar is having a blast because he can recall and use his experience from his Dekh Bhai Dekh days finally to some good use in Kyunki after more than 2 decades!

For those who don’t know, Amar was on one of the funniest sitcoms called Dekh Bhai Dekh in his initial days. Urvashi aka Komolika dated his onscreen chachu played by Vishal Singh.

He has worked with some of the finest veteran actors who aced in comedy in this show. He was a newcomer and I believe it was his debut show but am not sure on that particular thing.

Fun fact - this show was produced by Jaya Bachchan. I believe the only show she ever produced. Dunno if her company ever produced another but this show was crazy.

They also shot in London from what I recall and were one of the first Indian shows to shoot abroad back then. I think this aired on DD Metro/National. This was before private channels made an entry into India with the likes of Sony, Zee, Star.

Regarding looks - I believe he, Urvashi, Vishal were all teenagers here or had barely entered their 20s, hence the difference.

Plus, everyone dressed like irl on that show. You didn’t see anyone unnecessarily roaming around in suits or decked up 24/7/365. They were in formals when the scene demanded, else in casual clothes. Track pants, kurta pajamas, shorts. The women also wore nightgowns/nighties/night suits and didn’t just roam in heavy sarees all the time.

Farida Jalal was seen in salwar suits, her onscreen Saas Sushma Seth in elegant sarees befitting her age and status, the younger bahu played by Bhavana Balsavar even wore western clothes like skirts, dresses and dungarees.

In the pictures I posted you can see Amar and Vishal in vests. Now everyone is dressed up all the time and there’s no casual clothing on TV
