Unpopular opinion but ishaqzaade is a better movie than ram Leela

The narrative treats ram Leela as some epic and tragic love story but the romance is barely developed. It's more about lust than love. We don't understand why the characters love each others. We also don't know much about the characters. The story felt superficial, dull and empty. It's like slb made the movie just to cast attractive people, make music and show beautiful clothes and settings.

Now ishaqzaade might have its flaws like for example Parma not showing enough remorse for what he did to Zoya and his redemption being too easy however the romance was was better written and more developed. In pareshaan song and the scenes before we see Zoya beautifully falling in love with him. It starts with lust then it involves with her trusting him and him introducing her to his world wether it's by teaching her how to shoot (treating her as his equal unlike the men of her social circle) or giving her bindis that she tries for the first time as a Muslim girl. They have funny moments and shared humor that makes them more compatible something we don't find in ram Leela. On the other hand parma starts falling in love with Zoya because she's fiery, audacious, brave and smart. There's a beautiful cultural exchange in ishaqzaade that breaks stereotypes and brings people closer.

The music is great and the clip shows add to the story they are used to show the development of their relationship it's not just making music for the sake of it. The characters successfully involve. Both Zoya and Parma start as politically brainwashed and supportive of their family without any questioning. In the end they free themselves for the expectations and toxicity of their family and pursue what they want. They have a mind of their own. The end is tragic because they deserve happiness and freedom together far away from the archaic and hateful rules that want to separate them. It's tragic because we want their love to triumph over hate and sectarianism.

Ishaqzaade has many flaws but it's a beautiful love story with developed characters and well written romance. It's best performance of Arjun and parineeti is just fabulous. Their chemistry is crazy. Unfortunately it's forgotten.

Ram Leela was all about Ranveer and Deepika's chemistry...Every scene they were in, both separately and together, they just hit it outta the park and were such a joy to watch even when you know how cheesy and crappy the execution was....Otherwise the movie was mid. Didn't watch Ishqzaade....
