Definitely Mihir wasn't strong enough to recognise Karan openly and let him live as an illegitimate child but he definitely fulfilled fatherly duties economically

I’m fairly certain Mihir didn’t know that Karan was his son when he was introduced. Karan was introduced at the office by Sahil, and Mihir didn’t seem surprised. Even after his introduction, there were no indications of Karan having any personal relationship with the Virani family for nearly 100–150 episodes, if I’m remembering correctly. Tulsi even proposed Karan and Ganga’s marriage. Karan used to visit the Virani house and the office regularly, but I honestly don’t recall the exact point when Mihir actually learned the truth. I may be wrong as well.
