Been listening to this on loop, especially how the entire song is on the album with the rap and then transitioning into this poetry. This part in particular of the song
Ye ishq ishq hai ishq ishq
Ye ishq ishq hai ishq ishq
Vahashat e dil rasm o
Didaar se roki na gai
Kisi khanjar kisi talavaar
Se roki na gai
Ishq majanu ki wo
Aawaz hai jisake aage
Koi lailaa kisi divaar
Se roki na gai kyo ki
Ye ishq ishq hai ishq ishq
Ye ishq ishq hai ishq ishq
Wo hansake agar maange
To ham jaan bhi dede
Haan ye jaan to kya
Chiz hai imaan bhi dede kyo ki
Ye ishq ishq hai ishq ishq
Ye ishq ishq hai ishq ishq
The ishq is for the motherland and laila se bhi nahin rukegi aka even his wife cannot stop him in his ishq for his country. Sonu's voice just elevated it!!!!
The soundtrack is a masterpiece with how they used the same qawwali in two songs - here in Move and in Ishq Jalakar!!!! And then incorporating rap to 80s synth pop to punjabi songs. Incredible achievement musically!!! How can Dhurandhar Pt 2 soundtrack top Pt 1...cannot wait to see what they do with Pt 2 given they have more time for it than they had for Pt 1 which was being shot till Oct end, a month before movie release!!!
And I agree with your last line, Dhurandhar made me appreciate the art of filmmaking yet again cause that is what the film is a work of art!!!
I have been listening to the album on a loop, I kid you not; it’s addictive and I am absolutely in love with it. My favourites are Gehra Hua, Move, Karavan and the title track. I think I am more excited for the album of the next one than the movie itself because it’s been so long that Bollywood has made a movie where the whole album is such a banger. Shashwat Sachdev is a genius and I hope to hear more of his work.
Found out he was also the one who worked on the album of Bads of Bollywood and that one is such a fun one too! Man gave us two great albums in the same year.
The movie definitely is a work of art and the scores elevate every scene. I think one of the funniest and cheekiest moments was when Jogi starts playing and we know it’s a song about betrayal… and it’s played right as Hamza is leading Rehman to his death
I never imagined in my wildest dreams that they’d use this score here because 💀
Genuinely can’t remember the last time a Bollywood movie made me so happy.
Also, that thanks in the end was meant for the people who risk their lives everyday to protect us. Can’t imagine what it is they suffer and how they manage it. The cheeky social media trend of ‘first day as spy in Pakistan’ is funny but somewhere it also shows that people are aware that this is such a dangerous and difficult job. It’s not about dancing on beaches and enjoying exotic locales all the time. It’s literally enduring things beyond comprehension and risking your life every day for people who will never even know about you let alone thank you for whatever you do for them. Truly thankful for such remarkable and brave people.
An amazing and intuitive review of the movie by a Pakistani….One thing has to be said guys…This movie has opened my eyes to how most Pakistanis ( I am saying most because hardly have I ever come across anyone who was blindly hating the movie) are able to judge the movie objectively for its merits and demerits instead of dismissing it off as a mere propaganda movie….unfortunately, I cannot say the same about some of my own countrymen…
Anyway, highly recommend to watch this guys….It deserves every bit of the 26.28 minutes of our time….Please watch…
Is there another spoiler review or movie discussion thread?

They have nothing to lose if they own the truth. As it is denial is futile given that these people are well known figures whose whole life story is now available on the internet. Even if they deny the truth won’t change. So owning it is not a sign of magnanimity but simply saying yes, this is the truth and it’s a part of the story of my country.
Since this movie is a success and its sequel is also bound to break records it only helps; as success has many takers but failure has none. So even if they own the truth they’re associating themselves with the success of this movie. It also helps that the movie hasn’t focused on common people but specific individuals whose very identities are tied to a life of crime be it as a cop played by Dutt or Rehman played by Khanna.
When it comes to those within our country their meltdown makes sense too if you give it a thought. The old established families of Bollywood all hail from what is now Pakistan. Be it Johars, Chopras, Kapoors, etc. which is a known fact. These people fled their ancestral homelands and are still associated with them in their hearts and minds even though they know that the very reason why their elders and in some instances, people still around, had to flee the places was because they had Hindu names. They wanted to retain their identities but also not give up on their lands and possessions. Their whitewashing of Pakistan and everything associated with it was first a symptom of their inability to accept the reality and denial of the truth. They didn’t want to showcase the fact that the people where they hail from originally could be so evil or awful or whatever it is that you want to call them because it was unimaginable to do that. The association was not something that they could bring themselves to admit as a reality they can’t change.
Then they had literal funding from underworld from the likes of Haji Mastan to Dawood Ibrahim. There are even pictures and videos of old Bollywood people with Dawood easily accessible on the internet today for anyone. You cannot bite the hand that feeds you… ergo they took things a step ahead of whitewashing and started glorifying these characters in various movies.
The nexus is too deep and decades old now and so it can’t be wished away just because we want it to happen now. It will happen but for the dirt to be washed off, the stains have to be acknowledged in the first place. Currently we are still in the stage of acknowledging and identifying those stains. The cleanup process has not even begun.
We simply have woken up to the reality of the situation staring us in the face for decades. A Dhurandhar has simply sent simple tremors exposing the grime underneath and the funny part is it’s a fictionalised account of characters who have no specific identity, face or personality that could be traced as the inspiration too. It’s an amalgamation of supposed characters that exist across the borders operating on our nation’s behalf whose existence would never be acknowledged.
The difference between Dhurandhar and movies that have used real characters and names have been poorly executed and made with actors who have no star value or are absolute newcomers with no technical finesse either nor the sort of budget that can get talented people onboard either. Dhurandhar had big money riding on it, big names attached to it and in terms of technical finesse and execution is a banger in every single department of filmmaking.
Dhurandhar is what makes them tick because they finally have an opponent who can play the same game as them, as good; in fact even better than them…
