Does this sound familiar?

Adam, a security guard, travels from California to the Philippines, his native land, for his father's funeral. He arrives in Manila. As he waits, a phone rings in his backpack; he answers it, and a male voice tells him that his mother and sister are captives and will be killed if Adam doesn't cooperate. Over the next hour, the voice sends Adam by bus, taxi, motorized tricycle, and on foot through an urban landscape of busy streets, cramped apartments, a fetid squatters' camp, a bank, a cockfighting arena, and a church. Adam's conversations with the voice cover murder, Islam, jihad, rebellion in Mindanao, and his family. What is it Adam will be commanded to do? Will he acquiesce?

The team of Aamir have taken the adaptation rights of the film Cavite and recieved an NOC from the makers. Majority of critics have mentioned this fact in their reviews but have really appreaciated the work of the entire team of Aamir... 😊

loll as if itz the first time...copies and remakes are very common now, but not all succeed to do well....so itz better just to appreciate the hard work gone behind making a good movie rather than trashing it just cuz itz a remake/copy...

Just because it happens all the time in Indian movies doesn't make it right.. yeah its not the first time but this doesn't make it acceptable

I am sorry but I find that logic of yours very twisted..

just because there is a hard work done doesn't mean anything. When did I trash anything? I just pointed out that it was a copy and not original like it was made out to be..

and the claim that they got the rights from the makers of Cavite to remake etc is news to me because that was never mentioned by the movie maker or the director, in fact they said it was an original story which it aint

"We have taken the adaptation rights of Cavite for Aamir" - Vikas Bahl

Aamir, Rajeev Khandelwal's debut film, has already run into problems. According to recent news, Aamir is said to be a copy of the Hollywood film titled Cavite. Bollywood Hungama decided to have a clarified version and spoke to Vikas Bahl, Head of UTV Spotboy.

"Basically, Aamir is written and directed by Rajkumar Gupta and he wrote the story even before the English film, Cavite was released. We had registered it at the Writers' Association. But then after some time we realized that the story of Cavite was very similar to Aamir hence we approached the writers and makers of Cavite and bought the adaptation rights as that's the right thing to do," says Vikas.

So how much of the story is actually different? "Although it's a universal story, we have treated it differently; the screenplay runs pretty much similar to Cavite but our take on the story is different, so is our climax. Anurag Kashyap who is the creative director of Aamir was the first to realize the similarities in the story and notified us. We immediately decided to do the right thing by buying the adaptation rights."

"The makers of Cavite were perfectly fine with it, since it is a universal idea. But unfortunately, the media did not cross-check with any of us and published the wrong thing. No one bothers to confirm news," signs off Vikas Bahl.

*************

how can they live with themselves

Also at least I would be okay with an adaptation, that is normal and happens everywhere. At times I have loved a remake more than the original HOWEVER these guys are just disgusting how they are like "oh we wrote the story first..its just a coincidence.. but we took the rights for adaptation anyway"

WELL IF YOU'RE SURE YOUR STORY IS ORIGINAL AND YOU WROTE IT YOURSELF, WHY APPLY FOR ADAPTATION RIGHTS?

that is just wrong..

Also the guy said

"Rajkumar Gupta and he wrote the story even before the English film, Cavite was released"

dude you needed to be well prepared before you lied to the media. Its a Filipino movie not English

Yeah my doubts are clear ***********.. if they wanted to remake the movie and had got the adaptation rights then WHY NOT ADMIT IT.. why make up this stupid story

Or if they really wrote the story/plot everything themselves (yeah if that is true then we will also see pigs fly outside our windows) then why apply for adaptation rights? They can just let the Cavite makers know that they didn't know a movie was made in Phillipines with the same EVERYTHING..

Aamir is not at all a copy, it's an original indian story, it's baised on indian novel....

Actually if u would think it's a copy then the others had copied it, coz ''Aamir'' is an original Mumbai story....

If there are similarties, or the others made it first, it doesn't mean that ''Aamir'' is a copy, coz Aamir is an original indian novel, RajKumar Gupta wrote the film....

If u read the story behind ''Cavite'', it's actually a story taken from an indian novel, so which is original in this case????????????....
