Will Kuldeep Get A Chance?

Kuldeep Yadav, who is celebrating his 31st birthday today, is India’s highest wicket-taker in 2025, and in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, he dismissed nine batters. But despite his super show with the ball, he was left out of India’s playing XI for the first two T20Is, and it will be interesting to see if he is considered for today’s fixture or continues to warm the bench.

Samson's Record In T20Is

Sanju Samson has played 51 T20I matches for India since making his debut in July 2015 against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club. He has 995 runs to his credit in 43 innings of 51 T20I matches, and the Kerala-based wicketkeeper has slammed three centuries and three fifties.

Samson To Replace Gill?

Shubman Gill is vice-captain of India’s T20I team, but in the first two T20I matches of the ongoing series against South Africa, he could only manage to score 4 and 0 runs. Due to his form, Gill is facing a lot of criticism, and there is a possibility that the Indian team management could rest him for tonight’s match and try Sanju Samson instead.

Pressure is good. That should be applied on the under performing players. Gill and SKY are the prime contenders.

Pitch and conditions: This is a smallish venue. When you look at the dimensions, it’s 64 on my left, 65 on my right, and straight down it’s 74 metres. The pitch looks pretty good. Looks really good, even spread, very little grass, and the cracks; you don’t really need to worry about them. It just looks good. Turning up here, looking at it, you’re thinking you don’t want to be a bowler here. Then go to the 1,457 metres you’re talking about with regard to altitude. It means when they whack it here, it goes out of the ground. In T20 Internationals, it is eight sixes per match. If we go to the IPL, it goes up to 15. If you’re a bowler here, you’re going to have to use all your tools, slower balls, all the rest. You can’t miss early on. And as a batter, assess first, but you’ve got to try and cash in. As a bowler, the margin of error is very, very minuscule here.
