The early morning air was crisp and refreshing, yet Geet’s heart was anything but calm. She stood at the bustling airport, the hum of travelers and rolling suitcases blending into a distant murmur as her eyes searched the crowd anxiously.

Her fingers absentmindedly traced the smooth metal of the small box she clutched — a delicate ring, simple yet filled with promise.

Maan was supposed to be on this flight, leaving behind the project and the town, perhaps even her.

For a moment, fear gripped her. What if she was too late? What if the words she had rehearsed a thousand times caught in her throat?
