Yeah all franchises are releasing all players saying they had no choice had to do it/doing it heavy heartedly but they will retain who ever they actually want lol 😆

So? It means CSK is milking him. How it is him? CSK is getting so much from him, isliye making him play.

Definitely, but Dhoni loves CSK wayy too much. Even after retirement, he will stay with them only. But in this relationship, usko zyada gain nahi ho raha hain.

You just hope KKR phirse apna itna bada auction money 1 player per na laga de. Bcoz KKR can make a good team with a huge money. Honestly, I am surprised they let go of Russell.

Yes Russell is a bit shock to me as well and they retained rahane as captain too..there are rumours they will get venkatesh iyer at lowest price again..patha nahi

Dhoni is the face of CSK, just like Kohli is for RCB and Rohit is for MI. The day any of them decides to retire from IPL, these franchises will face a huge setback from the viewers who are dedicated to the particular player.

Other franchises might have other players to look forward to in case their brand face cricketer retires, but CSK absolutely has none. It could have been Jaddu next after Dhoni, but he's gone elsewhere. Or probably Raina, who has also collected lots of accolades for CSK. But now no one is, and the day CSK releases Dhoni, they'll lose a brand face of their franchise and a few people like me would eventually stop investing time in IPL. Till date my interest remains only till CSK is in the contest, uske baad I don't even care which teams win IPL, despite the fact that I am an avid cricket viewer.

So, in the nutshell, Dhoni is that inactive asset for the team which they are passively keeping with them because without his name and face, the franchise is almost ignored.

You echo my sentiments exactly.

I tune into IPL for CSK, more specifically Dhoni. Heck, I stopped tuning into post match presentations the day he resigned from captaincy so I am only invested till the day he plays.

Maybe because Russel did not have a good season for the last two years mostly... Like he used to be formidable, right ? Like Pollard. Ab woh nahi raha.. a low point in his IPL career. Shayad isliye ?
