March 25, 2027, is the targeted date. But, it might not make it to that as things stand today.

It will also be interesting to see Ramayana vs Varanasi output. Visually, and musically (songs and BGM), the former might have the edge, but the latter will score on mass theatrical experience is what I am assuming because of Rajamouli. It's already visible in the world intro video itself.

Like all Rajamouli movies, the flashback (in Varanasi, it will be related to Lord Ram) will be the highlight, which means it will be the highlight of the year. Where it would lead needs to be seen.

Not entirely related to the movie, but partially. Rajamouli's ultimate dream is to make Mahabharat as he envisioned. All the films starting from Chatrapati are just stepping stones for the same.

Yamadonga (Yamaloka)

Magadheera (Period Part)

Eega (Entire VFX experience)

Baahubali 1&2 (Using Eega and MD expertise)

RRR (Quick Period film with BB experience)

and now Varanasi (Will combine both BB and RRR here, visually and emotionally)

...each film had portions that led to a bigger experience (and better visual ambition) for the next. In Varanasi, it is expected to be Lord Ram portions and the whole set-up for that block/sequence.

If Varanasi succeeds, there will be one more film with bigger visual ambition (like Eega was to Magadheera) and then the Mahabharat will come to fruition.
