Yrkkh isnt just a show but a vital part of India's Pop Culture and often credited to be India's longest show.Log Nursery se graduate hogaye but still this show is running.
I remember watching yrkkh gen 1 as a young kiddo and honestly i used to laugh and find all the crying funny. As i look back i realise that how pure the relations were in the families-Singhanias and Maheshwaris and Deoras.
We saw many shades in all the different families and enjoyed the weddings, birthday parties, holidays and even annual program of kids of these families whereas cried when we saw inevitable deaths, notably Gayatri's and Daddaji's.The kids were the most adorable part of this gen.
All characters in gen 1 werent perfect but they grew with time. They were times when Singhanias imposed their patriachial rules but they never tortured Akshara unlike Poddars.
As a legacy viewer I cannot even connect gen 4 with gen 1.
The journey of Akshara from a Young Girl to a Mature Family woman is one of the best ones I ever saw in ITV.The way a meek girl made her mark in society is very inspiring.
Let us rewind some of the moments of gen 1 which portrayed the true Indian Family System
I would request you all for your active participation,Please post moments and memories that are the most beautiful part of gen 1

A request to all-This is strictly a gen 1 nostalgia thread so please keep Gen 4 out of this
You know, one of the best things about Gen 1 was that the cousins were really close — much closer to each other than actual siblings.
Also, Akshara and Naitik never spoiled their kids or nephews/nieces rotten. The kids actually behaved like kids — they didn’t constantly talk back or act entitled. I know Naira was disrespectful for a while, but I think that came more from defiance than actual disrespect.
There were so many characters, and everyone got their share of the spotlight, which made the show better. It wasn’t like everything revolved around the leads — their lives already had enough drama without resorting to making them look like overgrown (and immature!) teenagers.
And I really appreciated that it wasn’t all about the physical relationship between the leads. They had their fair share of emotional misunderstandings, but Naitik never crossed a line that a husband shouldn’t (for the most part — I did not see every single episode, so if something did happen, I am not aware).
Gen 1 showed strong bonds across every relationship. Even second marriages were handled fairly well.
The Singhanias were genuinely good people (honestly, they looked like saints compared to the Goenkas!).
And I adore the Maheshwaris — they were quite broad-minded, especially considering they lived in a society where daughters-in-law were often mistreated and sons-in-law were treated like gods.
The only thing I didn’t like was Varsha forgiving Shaurya, but hey, at least she made that decision herself. No one pressured her or gave her ultimatums — which was a relief.
