The online viewership is one factor but the loss of interest can't be denied. I think the viewers connect more with the older episodes than the new ones.

Agreed. The new episodes don't have that same charm. Maybe we've grown as a viewership, maybe it's the writing, I don't know. When this new season first started I really liked the episodes, but now I don't really enjoy them anymore.
I think the change of time is another issue
Evening 7 isn't a time one is interested in watching TV
Indeed. The vibes are off. I cannot pinpoint to the exact cause but something is amiss.Originally posted by: Minionite

I've gone back to viewing the older episodes.
9.30pm slot was perfect for us. Could watch it live even though TRP not applicable. Only recorded episodes when we were out.
Where as 7pm time not suitable at all so record the episodes.

I feel like it's 2 part. In the first season, we grew up with those characters so they were an integral part of our lives and there was actual growth and development in the characters. Also if a story started in one episode, at some point it would get referenced in a future episode, giving the show some continuity.
In this season, it's more like a "nostalgia" trip so the characters and show isn't as integral to our lives but also there is no real character development. They've kind of become one-tone. And these new CVs don't know how to continue a story. The Eye Gang has disappeared fully again and ACP Pradyuman's whole "death" and ACP Ayushman sequence was never really properly addressed.
Additionally, it's the nostalgia factor. What made us smile and want to watch more episodes is now becoming repetitive. But the CVs haven't learnt or understood that. They've squeezed as much of the nostalgia factor as they could. They need to now move on and bring newness to the show, but that seems to be lacking still. Yes the crimes are more related to nowadays and they have new officers, but the whole format is still the same as season 1 and most OG CID fans aren't liking the new additions.
Agreed. The freshness isn't there. Nostalgia factor has limitations and won't carry the show beyond a specific limit. And at a certain point, fictional shows needs to undergo major changes both in plot and characters.Originally posted by: Minionite

Maybe they should've gone ahead with Daya sir's idea of the trio having left CID and reuniting again. It had great potential as a mini series if executed by a competent team.

Plus Freddy sir's absence.....the bureau feels empty and soulless without him
And I feel like the whole ACP death drama would've had more impact if some previously established character like Asha / Ajatshatru / Prithviraj/ Sudhakar returned to the team as the new ACP.
