How far is it correct to deny the World Cup winner medal to Pratika ??
Pratika Rawal played a key role in India’s title-winning campaign at the 2025 Women’s World Cup. However, she did not receive a winner’s medal after India lifted the trophy for the first time, defeating Laura Wolvaardt’s South Africa by 52 runs in the final on October 2 at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

After India won the World Cup, Pratika Rawal was seen rolling out in a wheelchair, draped proudly in the Indian tricolour. Despite being on crutches, she radiated joy as she joined her teammates in celebration. Although she wasn’t part of the playing XI in the final against South Africa, Pratika embraced the moment and cherished being part of India’s historic triumph.
“I can’t put this feeling into words. This flag on my shoulder means everything, and standing here with the team feels surreal. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but I’m just so happy to have been part of this winning side. I love this team,” Pratika said after the match.
Pratika had a standout tournament, scoring 308 runs from seven matches at an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 77.77. Her defining performance came against New Zealand, when she smashed 122 runs to help India bounce back after three consecutive defeats to South Africa, England, and Australia.
Interesting breakdown — the India vs Sri Lanka matchup is definitely shaping up to be a tactical one! The dew factor and middle-overs momentum could decide everything. I like how you connected it with focus and discipline — reminds me that whether it’s cricket or life, staying calm under pressure makes a huge difference. In our bail bonds Tampa work, we see the same idea — handling tough situations with clarity and focus always leads to better outcomes.

A bit absurd!
Her contribution was mammoth!
It is not correct..but ICC rules are absurd. What can we do..she was not part of official squad after her injury..but we cannot ignore her contributions in previous matches..we are very proud of her..
Though it sounds unfair, Pratika is officially not part of the squad which played the World Cup final.
Some players who did not even took the field for the entire period got the medal because they are part of the official squad. When Pratika got injured, they got Shafali as a replacement and Shafali got the medal.
ICC can and will give out only 15 medals to the squad.
That is why Yastika and Pratika missed out.
Cheers..
Feels extremely unfair that Pratika wouldn't get a medal because she was out of the squad owing to her injury. Arundhati did not play a single match, but just because she was part of the squad, she too got a medal while Pratika, despite all her contributions did not get one. I really think ICC should relook at this law and revise it.
I'm not against Arundhati receiving a medal, I'm just saying that injured players who have to leave the squad midway also deserve one.
