Shafali Verma has taken matters into her own hands. After top scoring for India earlier in the day, she has come in and taken two huge wickets to suddenly South Africa into wobbletown.

South Africa’s chase got off to a back-and-forth of a start, with the batters doing well for much of the first 10 overs before India roared back with two quick wickets. Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus have since steadied things for South Africa and India are now searching for a wicket. Wolvaardt has scored a half-century and broken the record for most runs by a batter in any edition of the World Cup. Earlier, Amanjot Kaur’s brilliant direct hit gave India the breakthrough as she ran out the dangerous Tazmin Brits, thus ending her opening stand with Laura Wolvaardt on 51. Anneke Bosch fell two overs later.
