Rain has had the final say here in the capital city of Canberra. India’s innings promised plenty before the weather took control. The visitors got off to a flying start, with Abhishek Sharma dismissed early but not before setting the tone. After a brief rain interruption, play resumed, and Shubman Gill along with Suryakumar Yadav put on a dazzling partnership of 62 runs off just 35 deliveries. However, the rain wasn’t done yet. With India cruising at 97 for 1 after 9.4 overs, the heavens opened up once again - this time for good. Despite multiple inspections, the umpires eventually decided there was no chance of a restart. So, it’s a frustrating end to what was shaping up to be an entertaining contest in Canberra. The 1st T20I is called off.
