New Zealand Women won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

Pakistan Women (Playing XI): Muneeba Ali, Omaima Sohail, Sidra Amin, Aliya Riaz, Natalia Pervaiz, Fatima Sana(c), Sidra Nawaz(w), Rameen Shamim, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal

New Zealand Women (Playing XI): Suzie Bates, Georgia Plimmer, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine(c), Brooke Halliday, Maddy Green, Isabella Gaze(w), Jess Kerr, Rosemary Mair, Lea Tahuhu, Eden Carson

Sophie Devine: We're going to bowl first today. I think we saw that they pitched it a little up in the England vs Pakistan game. So we're going to have a first crack at that, and especially with the weather that's been around in Colombo probably the last week or so, I think knowing what to chase is sometimes of benefit.

The match officials almost huddled under the umbrellas near the rope now, big covers still very much on and around the pitch.

And as soon as Madushka sends me that update, the covers are being brought on! It's not that heavy thankfully because the players aren't rushing off, only walking to the dugouts. The pitch has been covered immediately and now some of the square as well. More covers being brought on as one of the officials comes on with an umbrella. Glum faces in the stands. "Currently a heavy drizzle," Madushka now gets it right. "Four corners of the outfield remain uncovered as well."

Not again! It is raining in Colombo and halted the play.

18:17 Local Time, 12:47 GMT, 18:17 IST: The blue sheets make their way in. Rain has stopped play. NZ were trying to get some momentum. And picked up a couple of wickets after the rain break. Pakistan also were looking to rebuild but they have to go off. We already have had three no results here at Colombo but we are hopeful we will get a game today. We will continue losing overs. The groundsmen sense there is more rain coming in and are looking to cover the entire ground.

15:37 GMT, 21:07 IST: Right then, the rain has the final say once again. Yet another fixture in this tournament falls victim to the weather. Colombo has truly played spoilsport this Women's World Cup. SA with this become the second team to qualify for the semis. The day began with bright skies and plenty of optimism, but as the day wore on, so did the clouds and the disappointment. With the match abandoned, both teams walk away with a point apiece. Pakistan’s semifinal hopes are hanging by a thread - all but over, while New Zealand’s path to the knockouts isn’t looking too bright either. Tomorrow, the action shifts to Indore in India, where England Women will lock horns with India Women. The weather forecast looks far more promising this time around and fans will be hoping for a full game of cricket. Both those teams will be eager to get back on the field and make their mark as the tournament moves into a crucial phase

Teams:

India Women (Playing XI): Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur(c), Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh(w), Amanjot Kaur, Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud, Shree Charani, Renuka Singh Thakur

England Women (Playing XI): Amy Jones(w), Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt(c), Sophia Dunkley, Emma Lamb, Alice Capsey, Charlotte Dean, Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith, Lauren Bell

Harmanpreet Kaur: We were looking to bowl first and glad to get that. We have one change - Jemi is not playing today and Renuka is playing. Having an extra bowler is always a great option and that will give us confidence in the field. She (Renuka) has a great record against England and that was the biggest reason we wanted her back in the side. Even though we lost, we played really good cricket in between and that is something which will give us confidence. Today is an important match and I want us to enjoy.

Nat Sciver-Brunt: We would like to have a bat. We would like to make the most of the fresh pitch and hopefully get a big total on the board. I hope so (it is the best batting pitch) and the outfield will be lightning quick, we have to do a lot of work in the field to stop the ball getting away. We have got Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Bell coming back into the side. They are ready to go and excited to be back. We will be looking for some big partnerships today and work as a team out there. We have seen a lot of noise with the Indian fans, hopefully everyones eyes are on the game and ready to be moved in the field. We know we have three tough games left and hopefully we can get two points out of it.

Pitch and Conditions: "Beautiful weather conditions. Unexpected rain yesterday but no rain forecast today. 31 degrees high and it is a pleasant day. The dimensions - 60 and 54 meters to the side, 67 meters down the ground. It is a fresh wicket. There is a green tinge on this surface and they have taken a lot of it this morning, it is looking dry. With the sun beating down there are a few bear patches and it might be a little two paced. The average first innings score is 279. Dew might come into play later on, it is a lot cooler in the evening and it might skid on a bit," inform Kass Naidoo and Isa Guha.

Renuka Singh to Tammy Beaumont, no ball, excitement first ball. Renuka appeals for a caught behind. Kaur runs across from mid-on to have a word. Richa Ghosh is not confident. They don't take the review. Anyway, Renuka had overstepped. It wouldn't have mattered. Big inswinger and Beaumont prods forward to defend, the ball beats the inside edge and almost shaves the off-stump. Not sure what the sound was as UltraEdge comes back with a flat-line
