Colors Kannada Shows: Dont know what to say?!
One show that's sensible?
Over the years, we have seen a terrible decline in the quality of writing in the shows that are aired and as a regular viewer am left concerned.
None of the shows have a moral highground, the shows tend to show rituals and practices that are either unheard of, or borrowed from other cultures or plain not acceptable beyond a certain degree.
Example:
1. Bhagya Lakshmi:
While it was both the son and his colleague who ran an extra-marital affair, casting the blame on the other woman alone or expecting the new daughter-in-law to compete with Bhagya or be like her, is WRONG. The mother-in-law standing up for her daughter-in-law's respect is absolutely correct but is she doing ALL this only because she knows the new daughter-in-law is nit like Bhagya and that Bhagya is gullible? Bhagya, as a character, is now turning irritable in trying to be over-involved in everything and posing to be"holier-than-thou".
2. Drushtibattu:
Drushti goes around accusing people of betrayal, taking advantage of her husband's goodness, ALL this while herself hiding the fact that she is fairskinned and pretty. How is she any different from the others or better than the others?
3. Karimani
This show starts with misogyny, in trying to justify the male leads action of character assassinating the bride leading to her marriage being called off, to marry her as if it were some joke is incomprehensible, next the girl eventually falling in love with the same guy, is beyond ridiculous.
4. Yajamaana
The female lead first uses everylegitimate-illegitimate means to coerce the male lead to get into a contract marriage on her terms and conditions only to be able to take over the family business.
How is this act of hers any different from her aunt who is shown as Vamp because she wishes to get her son married to her for the property? Both are driven by greed. I fact, the female lead is more wrong because she used her power and influence to make the man helpless and get her way out.
Next she realises her love for her ex-husband who is bound by oath to marry another girl (ALL this while the male lead has no love for the female lead nor in the proposal). She stops the wedding at the nth moment because she has realised her love not waiting validation or consent from the groom. She imposes her will through unique ways to get her way.
This is now being justified as though they bride (Anitha) is wrong and everything the lead is doing is correct. Hypocritical much.
What's more, her sisters-in-law support her in this.
Imagine, her own sister-in-law (Sangeetha) getting married in a similar fashion and her marriage being stopped by a stranger posing to be in love with her groom and the groom's family supporting this. What would the sister-in-law (Sangeetha) go through being humiliated in a wedding hall? Would that be fair on her part?
We have seen very nice serials like Kannadathi, Ginirama, Magalhu Janaki, which are morally right, literally rich and stories which are closer to reality which have struck a chord in the past.
We really hope to see the old times returning.
