Mariana Zapata is the Queen of slow burn, all of her books they get together like at 85-95% of the book. With epilogue showing their HEA. Unfortunately none are dark romance but still really enjoyed hers.

Butcher & blackbird: It’s supposed to dark romcom seeing as they’re both serial killers so I hope there’s some darkness 🤣 Let’s go for that. I’m 30% into the current book and will be done tomorrow. But can’t start until Wednesday evening as Tuesday and Wednesdays are just busy at work.

Yeah I think someone else recommended me Zapata for that same reason before, or was it you?smiley36

Cool, ill try to finish DIH sometime this week and then start Butcher n Blackbird so we can just go at our own pace and report here with our review before 31 August.smiley36

Also, I forgot to ask, are you reading ebook format for both books right? Because I was gonna use the Kindle page count for the sheet.

Lol can’t remember if I recommended MZ. I do always tend to steer everyone towards her for slow burn 🤣

Ok, I’ll let you know when I’ve started it. Hopefully it is good 🤞 and we both enjoy this one.

Yeah, I’m reading both on kindle since they’re on kindle unlimited.

No, haven’t read either or come across them. Checked the blurb out, both seem interesting. Especially Lemonade.

Mansions I have read half, the rest is pending, planning to continue next month. But in that one they also start off as teenagers but that's just for one chapter I think, then they grow up and meet again.

I am interested in reading Lemonade too...might read that after Mansions.

So is Butcher and Blackbird confirmed for us? I'll start it as soon as I'm done with DIH or at least when I'm near the end. Probably on Wednesday or Thurs.

Just got done with Does It Hurt, I liked the mystery part but the rest of the story was pretty slow. Also Sylvester's twist was meh and predictable like you said. I was expecting more from this book but overall not too bad.

Btw, Simon didn't have much of a role except the beginning and the end.smiley36

I did feel bad for Sawyer seeing all she went through in her past and then the way Enzo tortured her toosmiley18

I was confused whether to give this 3 or 4 stars, so going with 3.5

Now I'm on Chapter 3 of Butcher n Blackbird. I didn't like the start much but hope it gets better.

I’ve just started it a bit ago as I was finishing off another 2 books this week 🤣 I’m now on chapter 3, I agree this hasn’t captivated me right away. Don’t know why people hyped this up so much and I really hope it does get better.

I might try to get to chapter 10/11 tonight and see how it is.

Yeah, I heard a lot about it too, but the reviews I saw on goodreads were mostly negative and even Lizzie said she dnfed it. Oh well, lets see how it goes.smiley36

I haven’t read past chapter 4 yet 🤣 Let’s get to chapter 7 - if by then we haven’t gotten into it, we’ll choose a quick 200-300 page book to finish by the end of the month if that works for you.

I read Cora Reilly’s Camorra Chronicles - book 2 & 4. I read them a couple of years ago and remember enjoying it so wanted something good to read after does it hurt 🤣

Ruthless People by JJ McAvoy is a really good one and can be read as standalone. It’s on my list to reread as I want to read about a badass heroine again after the mindf*ck series by St Abby.

Have you read any of Amy Harmon’s books? She writes slow romance ones but they’re more on cleaner side but so full of emotions. Making Faces is one of my favourite, it’s like a mix of ugly duckling then beauty and the beast sort of trope. That’s only a minor bit but the story is so freaking good. It’s been years since I read it and suddenly my eyes fell to it on my bookshelf and want to read that again 🤣

Have you read Tillie Cole’s sick fux book? That is like serial killer/ Harley Quinn and Joker. It’s dark, gritty and gruesome.
