Bachchans, Kapoors bury the hatchet at IIFA

Bangkok, June 7 (IANS) The Bachchans and the Kapoors - the two leading families of Bollywood - have maintained a distance ever since Karisma and Abhishek's engagement broke off several years ago. But to everyone's surprise, Randhir and Rajeev Kapoor walked the green carpet at the premiere of 'Sarkar Raj' here.

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film starring Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai, had its world premiere Friday evening at the Ninth International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, of which the Big B is the brand ambassador.

While Jaya Bachchan extended a warm welcome to Randhir, Kareena is set to perform at the IIFA awards night.

The Bachchans, however, were the cynosure of all eyes at the Paragon Cineplex, where the movie was screened as part of the three-day IIFA extravaganza that kicked off here Friday.

Other Indian stars at the premiere included Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, David Dhawan, Zayed Khan, veteran actress Mumtaz and Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Actually the press is just plain STUPID to report this. The Bachans had broken relations with Babita and her daughters, not the Kapoors. They can never do that, Shweta is married ino Raj Kapoors daughter's family, so Randhir and Rishi Kapoors nephew. The Kapoors and Bachans are related by marriage. Which is why the entire Kapoor family was invited for the Abhi-Ash wedding. The media really needs to do a fact check

The press would write anything to bring down Bachchans. I am not saying that Bachchans are saint but guys there is a reason fro everything.

If Karishma broke her engagement with Abhi just because he was a flop actor and wanted Big B to sign off his part of fortune to Abhi then whose fault is that. In any normal family if the girl's family talks about seperation before marriage tehn MIL will obviously get upset.

And when Abhi is upset and do not wamt to work with KAreen then it is made out to be his fault.

Big B is close to Randhir, Shammi and Rishi.

They all weer present at Abhi's wedding but just Babita and her daughters....
