It was never mentioned in the show as far as I can remember. But I think they are using the actors' real life dynamics and characteristics in their respective characters. Like duo calling each other "Boss", Daya's love for gym, etc. Abhijeet's love for swimming is actually something similar, I believe. Aditya sir's love for water was mentioned in some interview. He loves swimming so much that in any diving-related scene, he is the first to jump in and the last to get out of the water.

Yup it was mentioned in an interview..

Abhijeet and Tarika were really cute and mature in this episode. I love the subtle graceful romance like this. Reminds me of 90's or early 2000's shows.
