I am not surprised. I don't think AKP has decided on any release date as of now especially this one in particular.

The tentative release dates of AKP's line up of movies more than a year ago were SZP on Christmas 24,Lahore on Republic Day 25 and Ek Din on Valentines Day 25.

There was some shooting left and post production work especially of Lahore and Ek Din and hence they had not decided on the release date then.

Lahore 1947 is based on the acclaimed play adapted from the book "Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai" by Asghar Wajahat.

As the title suggests on the backdrop of partition it's a period drama and action movie.

Well, the postponing is understandable... KI tells you the most probable reason (underlined by me):

"Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai" is a famous Urdu play by Asghar Wajahat, set during the 1947 Partition of India. The story revolves around a Muslim family that migrates from Lucknow to Lahore and is allotted a haveli (mansion) previously occupied by a Hindu family. They discover an old Hindu woman, Ratan ki Maa, who refused to leave her home, and the play explores the evolving relationship between the two families amidst the backdrop of communal tension and displacement.

The Partition's Impact:

The play vividly portrays the human cost of the Partition, highlighting the displacement, violence, and loss experienced by individuals on both sides of the newly drawn border.

Humanity Amidst Conflict:

Despite the communal hatred and violence, the play focuses on the potential for human connection and compassion. The Muslim family's initial apprehension towards Ratan ki Maa gradually gives way to a sense of responsibility and even affection.

Love for Lahore:

The title itself, "One who has not seen Lahore has not been born," emphasizes the deep emotional connection that people had with the city, regardless of their religious background. Ratan ki Maa's refusal to leave her home symbolizes this strong bond.

Clash of Ideologies:

The play also showcases the clash between those who promote hatred and violence (represented by characters like Pehalwan) and those who advocate for sanity, love, and humanistic values (represented by characters like Maulvi).

Symbolism of the Haveli:

The haveli becomes a microcosm of the larger societal changes, representing the struggle for identity, belonging, and reconciliation in the aftermath of the Partition.

In essence, the play is a powerful exploration of the human condition during a time of immense upheaval, reminding us that even in the face of hatred and division, the capacity for love, compassion, and connection can endure."

I thought Sunny Deol himself wanted to push the film back because he wanted Border2 to release first. In the current political climate Border2 can become an event film and I guess it’s a case of ceasing the opportunity for maximum box office results.

But yea I don’t think this is an issue Aamir Khan can afford to push back on anyway so it makes sense that it’s officially delayed.
