Mama bhat/Maira/Mairo,

This is a ritual in which Bride or Groom's maternal uncle,Mean their mom's brother come for the wedding of their neice or nephew whatever the case maybe.

Im this ritual,Mama is the main person, Because Mumma do tilak ceremony of Mama on the enterance ceremony and then usually all material family come and she did tilak for all people but called a Mama bhat,

Bhat refers to a particular gift type ritual,Mama bring a lot of gifts for the whole family of her sister,Mainly for their sister,Their Jija ji and the one who is gonna Wedding soon..

They hand over the gifts like Gold,Silver, Saree,Gehna,Sweets,Some other essential to their respective blood related family.

It is considered in Rajasthan that if we assume the wedding cost is 100 percent so,Mama bhat gives relief of atleast 20 percent in the wedding because they are attributing in the wedding as well of their neice/nephew.

And it is a compulsory rasam,I saw it in every other household.

And there is another rasam as well,In India in other states it is called shadi ka shagun but in Rajasthan people call it-

Baan.

Baan started on the day Haldi happened.

Yeah,Here haldi started 3-4 days earlier usually,In movies I saw it happened om same day before barat,I don't know though maybe in other states as well haldi maybe Happened some days before,Just speculating.

So,In baan anyone who comes wedding gives Shagun like whatever they wanna gibe 10,20,1000,5000 rupees as per their choice and one perosn note it down in the book for future reference,Like they give us 200,So we have to give them 400 rupees this type.

Baan ended on the day when food ceremony Happened,Mean Bhojan.

Baan like doesn't really attributes much but it's like 1-2 percent max. of wedding cost..

20-30 thousand minimum I guess.

and Baan is not taken from sister, Buaa and all related family.

So,I guess I went too far form Maira meaning..

Liked your post . Thank you . Yes I did attended some weddings in rajasthan and this rasm is there in some other parts of India also , maybe with some other name.

I remember they had these rasams in Akshara 1 and naira's wedding . There was a function and rajshri 's brother sold his shop and got jewellery for akshara which turned out to be fake . But bhabhima n Gayatri covered it up .

During naira's weddig , rasam was done by Varsha becoz shaurya was not well .

But in akshara 2 wedding there was no one from mom' s family and they added many other rituals like tilak , jamai bhoj , haldi pisna , etc

In ruhi's wedding they did not show any rasam, and arman abhira wedding had himachali rituals and later Manish took care of the wedding as ladki wale.
