Chapter 1
**************
“I cannot do it anymore. I have to leave”
“Take a break. Perhaps you’re missing your family. Take a moment to calm your mind and return.”
“Please accept the truth—I am not meant to be here. I belong to him. It’s only with him that my true place is. Not with you, but in his arms—where I was always meant to be.”
“Do you even realize what you're giving up? Have you forgotten why you once chose me over him? You're walking away from a billionaire—for a man who doesn’t have a penny to his name.’
“Yes, I know I chose you—because, like any normal girl, I couldn’t imagine choosing a penniless man over a billionaire. You have everything this world could offer, yet he is my world. Him being penniless no longer matters to me, because I now realize—he himself is the rarest, most precious gem.”
“So, you want to abandon all this lavish lifestyle and go to live with your penniless friend? He’s just a friend, Geet. You don’t even love him. You want to leave all this luxury, fame, and recognition that you’ll gain by becoming my wife for that man, whom you don’t even consider your love. Don’t let this momentary emotion cloud your judgment, Geet.”
“That’s what I initially thought, but in the four months I’ve been away from him, without any contact, I’ve realized how impossible it is for me to even breathe without him. What will I do with this immense wealth of yours when I die in a few days without him? I love him more than anything in this world.”
He was so frustrated by her and her stubbornness.
“It was a terrible idea to even think of marrying a middle-class girl like you. You people never see the opportunity life gives you and that is why you will never raise up in your status.”
“For now, all I know is, I love him and I need to run to him”
“Well, the one you are running after, has not contacted you even once in these four months” he reminded her of reality.
“That’s because he is badly hurt by my decision of choosing a complete stranger above him and that too just because the stranger is a billionaire. He is heartbroken and I need to heal him”
“I am asking one more last time, are you sure of it?”
“Yes, I am sure about it”
He gave her a laugh “Go. You will regret this. I will now marry a high society girl who really deserves to be by my side. The one who knows the value of being in upscale society.”
“All the best for your life. I need to go now”
And she left the grand mansion, filled with richness, without a single hesitation. Her heart was eager to run to him.

Mr. and Mrs. Ahuja somehow managed to finish their dinner, though every bite felt heavy, almost impossible to swallow. These days, food barely makes its way down their throats. Four long months had passed, each day stretching endlessly, feeling more like years. Mornings arrived only to be passed, and nights fell just to confirm the end of another painful day.
Their younger child, Vicky, was the only reason they kept going on. They couldn't bear to leave him alone, so they stretched on, surviving each day for his sake. Vicky himself felt orphaned with the absence of his elder brother from their life. His elder brother, who was their source of liveliness and positivity in their life, had left them. The once vibrant house was now consumed by the sense of dullness and emptiness
Mrs. Ahuja had just placed the plates in the sink when the bell rang.
“Who must be here at this hour?” she said, a little irritation obvious in her tone
The bell again rang, back-to-back
“Who is so restless?” said Mrs. Ahuja, irritated. A lovely calm lady was irritated with everything these days.
“Maybe Bhai is back,” said Vicky.
“Stop wasting our hopes.”
“Kahan gaya mera beta” and tears streamed through the eyes of Mrs. Ahuja
The doorbell rang again. Vicky went to open the door to find her standing at the door
“You??? Here?? Why??”
“Why can't I be here? Itni gair ho gayi kya main, Vicky”
“You should be at your fiancé’s place. After all, you wanted to learn how to adjust to life in the high-society palace, didn’t you?” asked Vicky
She could not relate with Vicky’s sudden rude words. He has been her sweet friend since childhood. Why was he so rude today?
“I am at your doorstep, after four months Vicky, this is how you talk?”
“No, I am actually wondering why you are back, that too here. You should be at your home”
“Jiske liye aaiyi hoon, usse mile bina kisi se nahi milna. Not even Mom, Dad and Veerji. Let me in Vicky, kahan hai woh”
“Woh so rahe hain.. Bohut gahri neend me” said Vicky plainly
“Vicky let me in. Meri awaaz sunega to sab chor ker aajayega. Aisa pyar hai uska mere liye.” She moved him aside and came in. She never needed an invitation for her entry in this house.
“Kash.. kash aisa ho pata” cried Vicky in his mind
Mr. and Mrs. Ahuja noticed her.
“Dear you?? Here? At this hour?” asked Mr. Ahuja, while Mrs. Ahuja was blankly looking at her. Why does Aunty look like a ghost? She wondered
She touched their feet “Sorry Uncle-Aunty for troubling you at this hour. My heart was so restless for him, I simply left everything and came.”
“You should not have come,” stated Mrs. Ahuja. But auntie’s flat emotionless, dead tone scared her.
What has happened? Why does everything look so gloomy, opposite to what it is supposed to be, full of love and liveliness?
“Aunty, I will go back home once I meet him” her heart felt more restless than it earlier was.
“Rehne de beta, he is sleeping” requested Mr. Ahuja. Despite the emotion in his words, they still carried a sense of pain.
Why is everyone stopping her from going to his room? They had never before. She could storm to his room any hour of the day or night. Is it because now she got engaged to that billionaire?
“I broke off my engagement, Aunty. I’m completely his now. I’ve realized the depth of my love for him.”
“Abbb kyun” tears flowed through Mrs. Ahuja’s eyes
“Uncle, Aunty is scaring me” she turned to Vicky
“Vicky kya hua, bolo na… kahan hai woh”
“Nahi hai…” Vicky said in a straight tone.
“What do you mean by nahi hai?” Her voice cracked
“Kahin nahi hai”
“What???”
“There is no mystery in my words, Geet. He is gone and there is no trace.”
“Will you stop talking in riddles Vicky. My heart is sinking now”.
She turned around to see the wall adorned with his pictures, spanning from his childhood to his youth. Every inch of the house was filled with his trophies and medals, proudly displayed. This was his house, yet he was nowhere to be found.
“Puttar, it’s pretty late. Go to your house” said Mr. Sanjeev Ahuja and signaled Vicky to drop her to her house.
“Ragini, let’s go get some sleep” saying so he took his wife from there. Geet’s further questions will only break his wife further.
He took his phone and called his family friend and neighbor, Mr. Handa.
“Hello…Mohinder. Geet putter is here. Vicky is coming to drop her”
But Geet did not listen and went to Maan’s room. The room was intact as Maan’s. His clothes are placed here and there as usual, his science journal, as if work in progress, his messy single bed, his photos all over the walls. It was full of Maan's vibe all over but Maan was nowhere.
Location: Mumbai, Malabar Hills
At 6 AM, a sleek, high-tech vehicle glided to a halt before the towering, futuristic glass structures of Khurana Enterprises. These high-rise buildings, stretching beyond the clouds, were masterpieces of modern architecture, their translucent surfaces reflecting the early morning light. The grounds were immaculately manicured, each flower and plant thriving in perfect harmony, creating a serene and beautiful landscape around the cutting-edge building.
As the car approached the platform, the shiny door seamlessly materialized and moved aside, clearing the way for the vehicle. The transition was so smooth that the car never needed to slow down. It effortlessly ascended the spiral platform, which from below, looked like a tiny toy car making its way upward through a winding path.
The car eventually halted at the terrace entrance of the tenth floor. A woman, dressed in a tailored suit—formal trousers, a crisp shirt, and a jacket—stepped out. Her silky short hair framed her face as she walked with grace, heading straight for the door. It sensed her presence and slid open automatically, welcoming her in.
At the same time, a man emerged from a separate sleek sliding door. It slid open digitally, moving silently along its fine grooves, and closed smoothly behind him, all without a single human touch. The seamless technology of this futuristic world was nothing short of extraordinary.
“Sandhya, I knew today you would not be able to stop yourself from coming here”
“How could I Raj? I am directly coming from the temple. I wanted the biggest scientist of the universe to bless my son- the greatest scientist of this era”
“Yes Sandhya, that is what the world will call our son - The greatest scientist. That will also ascertain his place as the king”
“Where is he? I am so excited to meet him”
“He is all set, completely ready to meet this world.”
"Really? Are you sure? I can’t believe it."
"So prepared that he refused to leave the lab for another two months. He wants to emerge fully ready, without even the slightest glitch. He’s designing the very semantics of life from an entirely new perspective. He’s working on a complete self-cleansing from all perspective. You understand, right?"
“I completely understand Raj. I am so proud of him. Let’s give him two more month and the world will look up to him.”
“Yes, let’s connect with Sameera, his perfectly capable and matched Partner.”
Author's Note: As I have completed Devil's Den and PHCS, I have decided to initiate my new stories. These will be posted very rarely and at a slow pace as my ongoing stories take precedence.
As I was typing Dheere Dheere Se, I thought, while I complete the chapter, I can give you all this to read.
For now, I have decided that this story will be on GHSP forum.
Please let me know - how is the start.
