Remember the joy of reading picture books in childhood?

Watching the illustrations bring the words to life quite literally?

This is a similar concept. You have to write a story and add suitable images to it.

You can choose to participate alone or in teams of up to 4 people.

To allow more creativity, the word and graphics limit will be a wide range -

You can go all the way from having an entry filled with more words and just a few illustrations to signify the important scenes...

...To a comic book-like tale where the pictures say it all!

The only catch?

Well... this is a contest on IPKKND forum,

So of course, having Arnav and Khushi as the main characters is a must

Annnddd

We ask you to pick one of their memorable scenes from the show

Knowledge about IPK is not strictly necessary

As the story doesn't need to stick to the show's premise

It can be an AU where you put your own spin to the scene you have chosen!

(Here are some scenes for reference from our last Anniversary thread. You can also ask for more scene prompts from us or fellow IPK forum members)

Since we want to cover a wider variety of scenes,

there will be NO REPETITIONS!

Once a team selects a particular scene,

other teams will not be allowed to take the same one again

But considering the wide variety of ArShi scenes available,

There's plenty to choose from

1. Unpublished work only! This applies for both Writers and Graphicers.
2. One member can only be a part of one team, and each team can submit a maximum of 2 entries only.
3. For Teams of 2-4 members, please inform who is writing and who is doing the graphics work. A member can also be involved in both, in which case, mention their name in both categories. Solo participants will automatically be considered in both categories.

RULES FOR WRITER :

1. The word limit is 500 - 1000 words.
2. Arnav and Khushi have to be the main characters. Including other IPKKND characters is optional. It can be a total AU as well.
3. The story has to include an iconic scene about ArShi from IPKKND.
   
4. Giving a title to the story is optional but recommended.

RULES FOR GRAPHICER :

1. Your entry should have minimum 4 to maximum 8 images.
2. Images have to be non-animated.
3. At least one image from the selected ArShi scene has to be used.
4. The image dimensions should not exceed 1000*1000. Within this limit, any ratios (i.e. 16:9, 3:4, etc) and shapes (i.e square, rectangle, etc) can be used.
5. Moodboards or Photogrids are not allowed.
6. Painting, sketching, digital art, etc is allowed.
7. Text is also allowed (such as title of the story, dialogs, song lyrics, etc) but no watermarks or identifying info. Once the contest is over, time will be given for editing the images before publishing.

NOTE - Try to think of these as book illustrations that will be interspersed with the written story. While we do not encourage simple screen caps, we also don't expect every image to be elaborate. Additionally, not all the images have to include ArShi - just one of them has to have the scene in reference. The rest can include other characters of the story, scene setting, etc (or more ArShi... we will never say no to that )

Entries have to be submitted via PM to this account (IPK_Organisers).

The last date for Submitting Entries is 20th May 2025 23:59 IST.

SCENE / WRITING :

I'm a bit confused. Are we writing a whole story or just rewriting a scene from IPK?

• Writing a new story... but that story should have the scene you select (which you can modify slightly to fit your narrative). Think of the scene as a prompt that you have to include somehow. Whether to keep the story and characterizations canon-based or AU is your choice.

So the iconic scene we choose can be changed a bit to adapt to the story… did I understand correctly?

• Yes, that is correct. You can change the scene a bit to fit your story.

So it has to be one scene only, does that include a dance sequence?

• The overall story can be longer than that scene and include other stuff as well... as long as the scene you select features prominently in it. Yes, dance sequences can also be taken.

Can we modify it how much ever we want?

• Hmm.. well... modifications are allowed as long as the scene is still easily recognizable. Think of it this way - if we don't know which scene you have chosen... but we can still recall it while reading your story, then that's okay. If you are still unsure, you can PM and ask about the specific scene and changes you wish to do.

Do I have to decide on the scene or I have to wait for a partner?

• If you can, be ready with couple of scenes. As soon as you find a partner, you both can finalize the scene and start preparing your part of the submission.

The word count should be exact 500 to 1000 or some more words can be added too? Maximum 15 to 20 words?

• Let us keep it to a maximum of 1000 words only please! We appreciate your understanding.

GRAPHICS / GRAPHICERS :

4-8 pictures as in should it be siggies / blends ? What kind of graphics are you expecting ?

• Yes, Siggies and blends are okay. While we are not encouraging simple screen caps, if you add effects, textures, text, etc to enhance it, that is also okay. Just think of it in terms of a picture book or illustrated story and I think you will get the drift. We are allowing almost everything except Moodboards... even so, if you are confused about whether a particular style of editing is permitted or not, you can ask here in the thread or in PM.

If we are doing an OS, is a book cover necessary ?

• Book cover is not necessary but you can make one if you like. Please note that it will be counted as one of the images amongst the 4-8 rule.

I want to participate as a writer of OS. But I don’t have any graphicer knowledge. So, can I just send my OS entry individually? Without any cover? Or graphics? Or is it compulsory to team up with a graphicer?

• No, sorry. Your entry needs to meet the minimum criteria of 4 graphics at least. If you cannot make them yourself, you will need to team up with someone else.

I don't know anyone here yet so how can I be part of a team / Any graphicer who would join me? / Mujhe graphicer dhoond ke do.

• We will try to find a graphicer for you. Give us some time as we seem to be short-staffed on graphicers right now.

TEAM / ENTRIES :

Okay, so how many people do I need in my team now?

• That's up to you. If you can manage the writing and graphics... everything... then you can be a one-person army too. Otherwise, you can ask other members to help you out. Maximum limit is 4 members in a team.

Can we pair up with two different people ?

• No. One member can only be a part of one team. But a team can have up to 4 members... so you can ask your partner if they're okay with having one more member. Each team can submit up to two entries.

I’m not quite sure how a team would work here? It would be better in pairs (writer+graphicer).

• Since this contest is a bit more graphics rich (4-8 images required), we don't want graphicers to get overburdened. If you participate in larger teams, the workload can be divided (from discussing the plot to writing and graphicing). Nevertheless, making a team is not a compulsion... we are allowing everything - solo, pairs and teams of upto 4 max. So everyone can pick whatever suits them the best.

I can only send one short story only. Not more than one.

• That's okay. 2 entries per team is the maximum limit... but sending only one entry is also fine.

Sign me up please for the story and a poem.

• Sorry, poems are not allowed in this contest. The contest is about writing a story based on an iconic scene (of Arshi) from IPK serial.

TIMELINE / EXTENSION :

Would like to take part. But I guess, I don't be able to make it by 20 May.

• Hmm.. to be frank, the chances of an extension are low... and even if we do give an extension, it will not be more than 3-4 days. We want to get the judging finished and results ready to be posted by 6th June which is IPK's anniversary... where we intend to display all the entries as part of the celebrations. But the entries are going to be on the shorter side (only 500-1000 words) and since you can be a part of a team where the workload can be easily divided, you should give it a try regardless.

NON-IPK FANS :

My knowledge of ArShi is just very little / I'm not a fan of the show.

• Knowledge about ArShi is not really required... just some knowledge about the scene you pick. While some scene references are already there in the thread we have linked, if none of them seem interesting to you, we would be happy to offer some more. Or you can team up with someone who is a fan. If you are a graphicer, we are willing to provide screen caps or episode number and approx timing of the scene selected... so feel free to join us!

@Purple Yes.

@Blue Yes, that is correct. You can change the scene a bit to fit your story.
