What a game we have witnessed! Proper edge of the seat thriller! The KKR flags are flying high as they stay keep their playoffs hopes truly alive. RR looked down and out for the majority of the run-chase but a stupendous knock from Riyan Parag raised their hopes immensely of tracking 206 down. But, it was not to be as the KKR bowlers held their nerves when it mattered the most. Good knocks from Gurbaz and Raghuvanshi and a quickfire fifty at the end from Russell took KKR over 200 and it was a slightly above par-score on a track that was a bit two-paced. RR lost a couple of wickets quickly but Parag and Jaiswal got together and kept the runs flowing with some brilliant shots. But, Jaiswal fell against the run of play as he holed out against Mooen. Soon after, Jurel and Hasaranga were outfoxed by googlies in the same over from Varun as the visitors lost three wickets in a span of 7 deliveries.

Why did I changed Russell

Things were looking gloomy for RR with half their side down at the halfway stage and a mountain to climb with the asking rate more than 12 per over. Parag took Moeen on in the 13th over and smashed five sixes in a row to bring RR right back into the contest. 32 runs came off the Moeen over and the flow of the game changed. Hetmyer provided good support to his skipper from the other end and the equation came down to 52 off the last 5 overs. But, Rana outfoxed Hetmyer with a bouncer in the 16th over and there was another swing of momentum. Narine closed out his quota frugually and the pressure once again shifted back to the visitors. Parag fell to Rana and missed out on a well-deserved century as the pressure got the better of him. 22 runs were needed off the last over Shubham Dubey smashed two sixes and a boundary off three balls and brought the equation down to 3 off the final delivery. But, Vaibhav kept his cool and nailed the yorker. A brilliant throw from Rinku in the deep caught Jofra short of his crease on the second run as KKR clinched an important 1-run victory.

Ajinkya Rahane: It was really close but really happy, when you win by one or two runs it gives you a lot of satisafaction. Gurbaz and Angkrish played well and that finish from Russell was really good. The plan was to go hard in the powerplay and then stabilise things till the 12th over. It was not easy for a new batter so me and Angkrish were talking to take it deep. (On the importance of fielding well) It's really important, if you can save 10-12 runs on the field it's great. If you can take a couple of good catches and effect a run-out, it makes all the difference.
