DC and LSG played their first fixture of IPL 2025 against each other - Match 4, on March 24 - and it was possibly the game of the season. LSG dominated it for the most part, but Ashutosh Sharma pulled off a one-wicket victory for DC in the final over.

Mustafa Moudi: "All the Matches that LSG have played so far have scores above 170. Seems like LSG doesnt like LSG - Low Scoring Games :P" Oh dear, but also most might say that 170 is a pretty low bar in 2025.

Pitch Report: "The average score here at this venue is around 190. Take this pitch to any other venue, it'll be 210-215 because of the dimension of this ground. It's quite a big venue here. 72m and 60m square boundaries, down the ground it's 78m. This pitch has been used before. It's a red soil pitch," says Deep Dasgupta. More insights from Shane Watson - "It looks like a really nice surface. The one thing that I saw straightaway is how hard this surface is. If you come down and have a look at this surface and hear it, there's been a lot of rolling on this surface. As soon as I came out and put my fingers into the surface, it made me want to put on the pads. It is red soil, so there's going to be pace and bounce for the quicks, there's going to be a little bit of grip on this surface as well for the spinners. It's going to be a very good cricket wicket. If you bowl well, things will go well. If you bat well, there's going to be shots all around the ground. The Lucknow Super Giants batters, top three in particular, they are gonna want to make the most of this surface." Dasgupta adds, "It might turn a little in the first half, almost the same way it played in the first game where LSG got 172 batting first and it was chased down rather easily by Punjab Kings. This might be a 'win the toss and chase' kind of a pitch."

Live visuals show Pant and Justin Langer having a keen look at the pitch. The LSG captain's right hand is taped but that shouldn't be a major issue because he was seen taking a few throwdowns a while ago. Now, Pooran is shadow-practising near the pitch.

Donovan Ferreira: It’s really important for us to get the momentum back, it’s important to learn from our mistakes and taking what we have done well in the tournament so far and getting into the second half of the tournament, I think it’s a good start, we are going to win today. The messaging has been clear, the coach has put a lot of trust in the players. We are trying not to get too high and not too low, stay humble and take the next challenge that comes our way. Their batting has been quite good, so striking early will be important. We have to assess the conditions, this is an away venue so it’s important to throw the first punch but we also need to play smart cricket and take advantage when we are on top of the game. Being an impact player at the end of the innings is quite tough, but trying to stay as calm as possible and try to make a big impact no matter how many balls they are. I have put in a lot of work behind the scenes, hopefully it comes out well.
