In the book, a 10-year-old boy faces difficulty in speaking English fluently. So, he feels depressed. Then a fairy comes into his life and makes him learn English. The fairy takes him to the fairyland and he meets talking animals, talking birds there. Those talking animals and talking birds also help him learn English.

Here's the link of my book.

Writing contests are so much fun! I submitted a short story for a fantasy contest on Penana (a platform for writing and reading) yesterday. My pen name is Storyteller there. Everyone needs to create a pen name at the time of joining the platform. I enjoyed writing that story very much!

You guys can read it if you want. Here's the story:

I second that, Shirsha. Writing contests are such fun and wonderful creations in this world! I love writing stories as well. Added to that, I love reading, writing and reciting poetry. I was thinking about where to publish or at least share my works, and coincidentally you've given me a really nice option. I'll check out this writing platform soon.

I just read your story. The most striking thing about it was the simple nature of the storyline and yet it was not uninteresting. You do seem to be interested in children's fantasy genre as you published a book as well recently based on the same theme. Also, I noticed that you wrote the story in simple present tense. I mostly write in past tense personally since I take inspiration from my own life incidents or things I've read about or experienced. I don't know why I observed that though but perhaps, that kept me going through the end of it. :)

I'll share my work as well here if I publish it on that platform! smiley27

Bold@ Thank you! I like simplicity, and it gets reflected in my stories. I also prefer to read books written in simple language (Ruskin Bond, Sudha Murthy, E.B. White, Sidney Sheldon, Frieda McFaddan, R.L. Stine, and so on). I avoid reading complex books. For instance, I don't generally read high fantasy because I don't find interest in the complex world-building of those books. As far as the fantasy genre is concerned, I enjoy reading children's fantasy, low fantasy, portal fantasy, contemporary fantasy, paranormal fantasy and dark fantasy. Yes, I enjoy writing children's fantasy books. My published book's genre is children's fantasy. I mixed fantasy and education (English learning) in that book. However, I really want to write a horror book for children as well. Horror is my favourite genre. I enjoy watching horror movies a lot! I prefer to read horror books too. When it comes to writing, I think it's very difficult to write a horror story or a horror novel. It's challenging to create the atmosphere of horror in a story or a novel. Still, I'm willing to delve into that genre.

Red@ Actually, I prefer to write stories in both tenses. But the tense of my published book is also simple present tense, like this short story.
