Raja Hindustani never made any sense. It’s an all time cringe promax. It’s a dabba on an otherwise exemplary filmography of Aamir Khan.
But movies like DDLJ also didn’t age well. I was shifting between cringing and falling asleep before I gave up on it the other day. Another movie which used to be my favorite but aged badly is Hum Saath Saath Hai- painfully slow and borrrrring.
He did that in Dil also. Didn’t SRK’s character made Kajol’s character believe that she slept with him in DDLJ, and then say oops it was a joke? I have also seen movies where the hero slaps the heroine because she was wearing revealing clothes. 90s ke movies are very problematic. That’s why it’s laughable how folks now talk about these movies as some masterpieces.
Folks even started called SOTY a masterpiece recently batao?Nostalgia is a good thing which is going to make us all remember Naadaniyan and Archies fondly after 10 years.😅

DIL it sort of made sense because Madhuri’s character accused him of rape and got him kicked out of school. And the intention always was to scare her but not go through with the act of rape. Regardless, it was still SA. DDLJ scenario is worse IMO because the whole time while she’s freaking out he’s laughing because he thinks it’s funny that she thinks she’s destroyed hers and her family’s name. And that’s a whole other angle that’s problematic. If she was too drunk to consent that means it was rape but her focus is all about her and her family’s reputation which speaks of the whole issue of ostracizing victims of rape, but I digress.
Dil’s bigger problem was that all too familiar scene of Aamir and his friends harassing Madhuri throughout school with song and dance. That was such a predatory gimmick that a lot of the 80s and 90s movies had. And it was always a fast paced peppy song to make it all seem like fun.

Omg that song.…readymade material for the eve teasers to use on their victims. 😞
About that scene in DDLJ, I agree there are too many problematic things about it. In the end the way SRK’s character turns all serious and heroic claiming he would never do such a thing to a sanskari girl like her, what does that even mean.🤦♀️
But there is always someone who is going to lecture you about how these are just movies.
Watching QSQT for the first time. Wow, it’s hard to believe Aamir and Juhi were debutants in the movie. And the movie also is not cringe promax thankfully, like how we would expect of a movie of this genre. Surprisingly no heavy heavy dialogues, no screaming yelling and sar pair peetna by the elders. Beautiful songs, beautiful and talented actors, eye pleasing cinematography, interesting screenplay clean dialogues and modest relatable costumes though both the leads come from stinking rich families . Enjoying an old movie after a long time,

hmm honestly didn't think much of that scene in DDLJ. as SRK's character was only playing with words, didn't force himself upon her or anything. They almost made it look innocent banter.
I am not justifying that scene. Its just how it came across to me at first. But that line where he goes he would never do that to an Indian girl or sth was problematic. as if for other girls it does not matter.
He recently had his comeback hit with Sitaare Zameen Par. Shahrukh and Salman are nowhere to be seen. Aamir Khan will also be producing that...
