CSK have lost six out of their last seven matches against PBKS and this is PBKS' first win at Mullanpur after losing five successive IPL games.

Priyansh Arya is Player Of The Match

extra words blah blah blah
PBKS have finally won in Mullanpur. Just their second win there. Ricky Ponting is pumped with that win, he is punching hands with someone furiously. What a batting show from the young Priyansh Arya. He was unbelievable with his hitting tonight. And like previous uncapped players against CSK - remember Paul Valthaty - stunned the team in yellow with a breathtaking knock. Chasing such a big score, CSK needed one of their batters to go big like Priyansh but no-one could. Good opening stand from Conway and Rachin but they were always behind the rate. Dube came in at 4 and looked to turn the momentum but Conway's slow striking made it difficult for him and the pressure got to Dube. Dhoni came in at 5 but the equation was already looking insurmountable, despite his 12-ball cameo of 27, it was not enough. CSK even tried retiring Conway out towards the end of the 18th over but his replacement - Jadeja couldn't do much either. Could CSK have tried retiring Conway out earlier? Lots of things to touch on in hindsight. The big talking point of the game has to be the number of dropped catches from both sides. The team that was better at who was the worst fielding unit on the night ultimately won.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: I think the last four games, the only point of difference (fielding being the difference). It has been critical. The catches we have been dropping, the same batsman is scoring 15,20, 30 runs. Sometimes you have to appreciate it (On Arya's 100). Priyansh played well. High risk batting and it came off well. We were getting wickets at regular intervals but they kept the momentum going. 10-15 runs lesser would have helped us. But it comes down to dropped catches. It was spot on in the batting perspective. Two of our best batters (Rachin and Conway) who play pace well went at the top of the order. They had a good powerplay. Lot of positives in the batting department. We were two three hits away today, Devon is more of a timer of a ball. Very useful at the top of the order. Jaddu, his role is completely different, You know the batsmen is struggling (On Conway being retired out). We waited for him to time it and then changed when we thought it was necessary. Just have some fun. I spoke ahead of the game that we have to enjoy the fielding. If you are nervous, you will drop a catch. If you look to be a standout fielder, save those two three, get that run-out, it helps the team. Batting and bowling you can have bad days.
Shashank Singh: When I went into bat, we were five down for 90-odd. My plan was to play with minimal risk and maximum reward. My role was to give more strike to Priyansh. The way he was batting, I knew if he bats close to 15-16 overs, we will be close to 200 and 200 was a par score on this surface. (On his mindset when he came into bat) When you enter the field, you don't think about the past performance or the future performance, it's just the bat and the ball, so my goal was to be on the wicket and maximise my scoring. Lara sir the way he told me about my batting, he told me to that how should I go and take my batting, usually at 6-8, power-hitters come but I'm someone who times the ball. I’m lucky to have Ricky Ponting with me, before coming into the IPL, I wasn’t playing that well in the nets but the way Ricky sir believed in me and backed me, kudos to him. In match one, when he (Priyansh Arya) played against GT, he showed glimpses. He does it for his state side, he is doing the same here at the highest level, I’m very happy for him, he is a very bright prospect for the country as well. We have a very good side, we take it match by match, the side looks very good on paper, we have to win the those moments and stay in the present.
Shreyas Iyer: This is going to be the template irrespective of any ground we play at. Strong hitters we have and the way Priyansh played was scintillating to watch. Out of the world type of innings. When I had a chat with him in the last game, he was a bit timid in his decision-making when he faced Jofra. Today he backed his instincts, he was free-flowing, that's the mindset I want everyone to have in this team. Basically was one of the top knocks I have seen in the IPL. That was a tactical call, because Dube had already played a few deliveries and Conway. With Yuzi coming in we know how destructive he can be, but I felt that the instincts was to go with the seamers. Basically we wanted pace against Dube, we delayed a bit in that but eventually it worked out. We were talking right now, we haven't played our best game yet, the nerves are still there, once they get fearless on the field, we need to go back and do group catching sessions, but we won the game and we need to focus on the positives.
