What did Thecha queen make?
She again ruined a dish with foam ๐คฆ itna sikhaya usdin RB ne phir b
Why was Munnawar on the show today? Made no sense.
So everybody got an ingredient they have struggled with in the past, and I must say they were all fantastic ingredients to cook with. I mean this clearly didnโt seem like a challenge for them.
1. Gaurav had ginger - he made a plum and ginger sauce topped with orange curd, that then had a whole wheat cake flavored with ginger. His pavlova was flavored with ginger as was the salted chocolate caramel. He made a chocolate bark to support the pavlova. Even the tuille had ginger flavour. Honestly, I love the flavour of ginger in desserts. So it sounded delicious. Of course we all know it looked exquisite. It was obviously the best dish of the day.
2. Faisu got cream cheese and he made a cheesecake with passion fruit compote. And added a sunflower topping. I wish he had colored the sunflower to make it look more like one. I didnโt like the presentation of his dish (except the flower), the chocolate coating on his dish was uneven. Also, it didnโt sound like a very strong dish. He even had some pistachios in his dish but I didnโt understand where. Overall a weak dish. Though the judges praised everyone.
Nikki got crab. She had a sob story for even that. She made pandan flavored rice with a few other elements and a black pepper crab Singapore style. Iโd read how her plating was bad, it was ok until the foam. But a very weak dish for the finale week. We make black pepper crab very often at home, itโs clearly an easy dish to make.
Rajiv got cherries. Heโs a fool. He decided that he wanted to make savoury today because everyone thinks he is a dessert specialist. But he is better at desserts and nothing wrong with that. Coming to the last leg, do what you are good at. Even Gaurav is making only desserts because thatโs his strength. Nikki never makes desserts because thatโs her weakness. And then when you know youโve gotten cherries, why be adamant on making savoury? Cherrys because of their tartness can be used well in savoury too. He made a savoury cheesecake - which sounded so good. But it wasnโt all that great.
Nikki got chillies. She made a cheung fun with a prawn stuffing and served with a sol kadhi broth. She gave it Maharashtrian flavours. I can imagine why it worked. Cheung fun is basically rice flour wrappers with a stuffing. I wasnโt excited about the Maharashtrian flavours, because I really like cheung fun as it is. But her dish looked beautiful, and apparently tasted good too.
Iโd really have liked to see them work with elements that arenโt easy - wasabi, natto, stinky tofu, something like that. But I guess weโll have to wait for a season of non celebrities for that.
I must add Chef Vikas and Chef Ranveers reaction to Gauravโs dish was a bit much. Praise it and all, but their reaction was like theyโd seen God.
Ranveer reaction seemed fake to me. Atleast Farah was normal!

Finally watched the episode. Did Teja get help from Abhijeet and Archana? Thatโs what it seemed like to me, while the others only got help from one.
Also, I was so disappointed that they didnโt show much of Archana with Gaurav. Theyโre such a fun pair to watch. I really hope to see them both together on a show.
Anyways coming to the dishes -
1. Faisu - I absolutely loved his idea and plating. Very unique, havenโt heard of this combination and looked fantastic. I didnโt even notice the negative plating until the judges spoke about it. But true that he couldโve added some more colour. But even then didnโt mind it. The pรขtรฉ or what he called the mousse looked really good. And the sprinkling of chilli powder on the ghewar I think wouldโve added a nice flavour. Iโm glad he didnโt just plate makhani sauce but went in with a red pepper sauce. For me, it was the most innovative dish of the day.
2. Nikki - her plating was bad. I think when I dump food on a plate it looks like what hers did. The kharda chicken looked ok, but where was the gravy? If youโre giving so many fried elements (rice cake, sabudana papad), you need something to balance the oiliness. Also, did she not serve thecha? She didnโt mention it when she described the dish. There was no innovation, no presentation but still the judges could find something to praise. And her attitude during tasting was horrible (as always). Nikki wa down so Farah gave her a hug, where was Rajivโs hug? Theyโre mollycoddling her a bit too much.
3. Rajiv - hats off to him for even completing his dish. It was a mammoth task. I know how difficult it is to do frosting on a just baked cake. His dish didnโt look good - I wish heโd gone in with pastel colours or Atleast a lighter colour instead of the red. It was in your face. Of course the cake was slightly leaning. I agree with Ranveer, he couldโve chosen to do his frosting in a way to make the tilt look intentional. His concept never appealed to me - monarchal is too heavy and dry to go with something so heavy. A lighter dish wouldโve been better, so maybe something airy like a soufflรฉ or a mousse with a base of mohanthal wouldโve been a better option. But Iโm happy some of his components were good. I think he just became over ambitious.
4. Gaurav - the dish looked very pretty, theres no doubting that, and the fact that someone who hasnโt cooked much made it, just adds to the amazement. But to say that this is the best looking dish in masterchef ever, is a bit too much. I have seen better looking dishes on masterchef. Cakes with pepper and chilli and herbs have been done before, but I agree they are difficult, so kudos on that. Using cream cheese frosting as foam, again not a novel idea. I absolutely loved the chocolate stenciling effect (the leopard print), it showed his creativity and artistic talent and the berry crisp looked really good. What I liked is that he didnโt just use his technique but incorporated mor techniques. Those sauces on his plate looked really nice and smooth. The best part is the texture and shine in them. Overall impressed.
Tejaswi - her dish neither sounded interesting nor did it look great. Although I loved the onions with kokum syrup - they added a nice colour and looked pretty. So she made pithla- which is basically cooked besan, a very humble dish made in most Maharashtrian households. I havenโt understood how that can be elevated to masterchef level - itโs a very very basic dish. I was intrigued by the aubergine peanut butter. I love the Maharashtrian bharli vangi, Iโm wondering if it was just a pureed form of it. If it was, could it have been presented better? Because the centre of her dish just looked like brown elements stacked one on top of the other. Her ragi crisp was taking too much attention from the plate and not in a good way, could she have made them smaller, and maybe served it in a way that the main dish got more attention? Overall, for me it was a miss.
Gaurav got Ranveers knife and praises from all. Of course Iโm happy for him, but somehow today I felt Faisus dish deserved to be best. Of course I couldnโt taste the dishes, and Iโd like to believe both were fantastic, I just think when it came to innovation, Faisu had a slight edge.
Also, its finale week, they gave them their best dishes to recreate, basically play on their strengths, Iโd really like to see them get to rework on their weaknesses. That would be truly interesting.
Did you notice the amount of oil Nikki was pouring to fry the small papad? And she couldn't get it right in the first attempt.
Hard agree . Lord it was cringe. Since Two three episodes they are just overdoing it and going overboard. Like they have seen God knows what, its foood ffs! Second hand embarrassment hua aaj toh. They should calm the f down.Originally posted by: Raina101

Seeing the spoilers I thought the finale would be a close one between Gaurav, Teja and Nikki, but now it seems it will be a one-sided one.
Nikki was in form for long time she lost her consistency at the wrong time.
Also I dont like the concept of 5 days all 5 contestants cooking. I prefer the previous concept where there is like top 4/5 first then there is elimination till there is top 3 and final cooking contest between them. If they followed that Gaurav, Nikki and Faisu would have been Top 3.
Nikki seems to have lost interest..itni cooking life me nahi ki hogi..must be tired
